Avoiding mistakes in selecting a rotary encoder: 5 questions to check before design.
Grayhill
After answering the five questions once and then looking at the data sheet, the "points to compare" become clear, making the selection process faster.
A rotary encoder is a component that converts the rotation of knobs and dials into "signals" and transmits them to control devices such as microcontrollers. However, in practice, selecting based solely on the values in the data sheet can lead to failures such as "more frequent breakdowns than expected," "malfunctions due to noise," and "complaints due to mismatched operational feel." Therefore, in this article, we have summarized the "operating environment and usage" that should be organized before design, as well as five questions for selection, to make it easier for beginner engineers to make judgments. *For detailed content of the article, you can view it through the related links.
