basic information
**Lecture Overview** In this presentation, we will provide an overview of prior cases regarding land use conversion of former steelworks at JFE Steel, and introduce the large-scale land use conversion initiative, covering approximately 400 hectares, that is being advanced in the Keihin area following the suspension of operations at the blast furnace and other upstream processes in September 2023. This initiative strategically incorporates next-generation infrastructure such as decarbonized energy centered around hydrogen, advanced logistics, and data centers, starting with the development of foundational infrastructure like ports and roads. By collaborating with national and local governments, we aim to create a "future implementation field" for GX (Green Transformation) and DX (Digital Transformation) that balances public interest and business viability. Through this, we aspire to become a transformative model for coastal industrial zones that contributes to Japan's industrial development and the resolution of social issues over the next century. **Lecture Items** ■ Introduction to the JFE Group ■ Prior cases of former steelworks site development at JFE Steel ■ Areas under consideration for land use in the Keihin region ■ Challenges and potential of land use conversion ■ Kawasaki City land use policy ■ JFE's land use vision (OHGISHIMA2050) and progress ■ Summary ■ Related Q&A ■ Business card and information exchange session
