basic information
**Lecture Overview** Maritime logistics via ships supports people's lives and economic activities as a social infrastructure, transporting about 80% of global cargo and over 99% of Japan's cargo. Our country is the third largest maritime nation in the world in terms of both shipbuilding volume and deadweight tonnage. Currently, in addition to realizing the GHG reduction strategy set forth by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), there is a demand for the development and implementation of next-generation ships and shipbuilding and shipping systems that further enhance safety and efficiency through the introduction of automation technologies and AI. In this lecture, based on the shipbuilding industry revitalization roadmap published in December 2025 and discussions in the Shipbuilding Working Group of the Japan Growth Strategy Council, I will explain what is essential for our country to maintain its status as a maritime nation and achieve the sustainable development of the shipbuilding industry, as well as how these elements should be strengthened and interconnected. **Lecture Topics** ■ Maritime Logistics ■ Shipbuilding Industry ■ Shipbuilding Industry Revitalization Roadmap ■ Future Developments ■ Related Q&A ■ Business Card and Information Exchange Meeting
