Low-temperature sintering fluorine coating for resin materials | Prevents thermal deformation and provides non-stick properties
FU Series
Achieving fluorine treatment for resin: Eliminating thermal deformation and degradation caused by baking temperature! Providing high non-stick and slip properties to 3D printed resin trays.
This is a technical case study of a mesh tray made of engineering plastics (such as nylon and PPS resin) shaped by a 3D printer, coated with our low-temperature sintering fluorine-based coating "FU-1240." **Features of the Low-Temperature Sintering Fluorine-Based Coating "FU Series"** Since it does not require the high-temperature baking process (300°C to 400°C) necessary for conventional fluorine resin coatings, it can form a coating directly on resin substrates with low heat resistance, such as nylon and PPS, without causing deformation or deterioration. **Main Benefits of Implementation** ■ High adhesion to resin & elimination of thermal effects The coating is applied at temperatures below the melting point and thermal deformation temperature of the substrate. It adheres strongly while maintaining the inherent strength and properties of the resin. ■ Prevention of adhesion and sticking (improved cleanability) With excellent non-stick properties, it prevents the sticking of liquids, powders, and adhesives. Even in complex shapes like mesh, dirt is easily removed, reducing cleaning effort. ■ Improved slip properties (reduced friction and wear) By lowering the coefficient of friction, it eliminates snagging between the tray and the counterpart material. This contributes to improved sustainability in transportation and movement, as well as reducing wear on the substrate.

Applications/Examples of results
【Main Applications】 ■ Resin jigs, transport trays, and mesh baskets prototyped and manufactured using 3D printers. ■ Plastic trays, pallets, and receptacles for inter-process transport. ■ Resin transport jigs, hoppers, and chute components for handling powders, liquids, and adhesive materials. 【Problem-Solving Case Study】 ■ Issue A mesh tray made of nylon and PPS was produced using a 3D printer to achieve lighter labor and weight reduction, but workpieces and paint/powder tended to adhere and stick to the tray. Conventional fluorine coatings could not be applied due to deformation of the resin from high-temperature firing, leading to difficulties in cleaning and workpiece snagging. ■ After Implementation A low-temperature fired fluorine-based coating "FU-1240" was applied. ■ Effects and Results: - Achieved non-stick surface without causing thermal damage (deformation or dimensional distortion) to the tray. - Substances that tended to accumulate in the mesh could be easily removed, dramatically reducing maintenance labor. - Improved slip properties supported smooth operation during tray insertion, removal, and sliding.

Company information
Nikken Coating Industry Co., Ltd. has been a specialized manufacturer of functional coatings for contract processing, earning the trust of customers across various industries for 79 years since its founding. We leverage our processing technology to maximize the properties of fluororesins, such as non-stick, lubricity, and chemical resistance, providing high-performance coatings that directly address customer challenges, including "Thermo Pro Release" for thermal welding processes and "NonStick STC" for blades and precision molds. In recent years, in response to movements regarding regulations on fluorinated compounds (PFAS), "PEEK resin," which is gaining attention as a substitute for fluororesins, has become a focus. Nikken Coating Industry commercialized the world's first PEEK resin coating, "PEEKCOAT," in 1999. Based on the solid knowledge and know-how accumulated over more than 20 years, we are further intensifying our research and development efforts to explore the potential of next-generation PEEK coatings! We aim to be recognized as "the go-to for PEEK coatings" and will continue to lead the way. As "the best partner for functional coatings that builds trust through technology," Nikken Coating Industry will continue to contribute to the creation of high-quality, high-performance products.
