Future Trends of the Global Polypropylene Carbonate Resin Industry 2026: Growth Path from 270 Million USD to 405 Million USD
What is polypropylene carbonate resin? The polypropylene carbonate resin market is expected to expand from approximately 250 million USD in 2025 to about 405 million USD by 2032, with a CAGR of 7.0% projected from 2026 to 2032. The global production volume in 2025 is estimated to be around 70,000 to 78,000 tons, with an average FOB price of about 3.0 to 3.7 USD/kg. Polypropylene carbonate resin is an aliphatic polycarbonate catalytically copolymerized from carbon dioxide and propylene oxide, featuring transparency, flexibility, gas barrier properties, and biodegradability. However, when used alone, it has limitations in heat resistance, melt strength, and mechanical properties, making blending, toughness enhancement, chain extension, and filler reinforcement important for practical applications.

Applications/Examples of results
Utilization of CO₂ and Low-Carbon Materialization of Polypropylene Carbonate Resin The most notable feature of polypropylene carbonate resin is its ability to utilize CO₂ as part of its raw materials. Polypropylene carbonate resin is positioned not merely as a biodegradable resin, but as a functional material that combines CO₂ resource utilization with biodegradable materials. By 2025, commercial supply will be primarily from Chinese manufacturers, with specialized material companies from South Korea, the United States, and Europe also entering the market. In the future, catalytic activity, CO₂ fixation efficiency, propylene oxide costs, and equipment utilization rates will influence manufacturing costs, while economies of scale from large-scale facilities will determine competitiveness.
