High-energy X-rays from the beamline make a significant contribution to materials research, such as the observation of weld seams. This requires positioning heavy objects with micrometer precision, and the PETRA III storage ring in Hamburg, Germany, is one example of this. A hexapod with a high load capacity of up to 1 ton allows the entire setup to be positioned with a stroke of 400 mm at an accuracy of ±1 µm. The equipment includes a cylinder block, turbine, sintering furnace, cryogenic chamber, welding device, and processing tools.
