Physical AI × INCEPTION: Bringing staircases close to real environments into the laboratory.

In the research and development of quadrupedal robots, it is important to develop walking patterns and verify mobility not only for flat terrain but also for real-world environments such as steps and stairs. At MetalWorks, we design and manufacture wooden stairs for quadrupedal robots as part of our "INCEPTION Stair Series," which establishes an experimental and verification environment for robots. By installing stairs in laboratories and R&D environments, it becomes possible to repeatedly verify approaches to steps, ascent and descent movements, posture control, and walking pattern development, all based on real-world scenarios. Using wood makes it easier to introduce compared to large metal equipment, and we can accommodate designs for size, number of steps, and layout tailored to the research content and the robots being used. This can be utilized not only for R&D of quadrupedal robots but also for proof of concept (PoC) of physical AI and demonstrations at exhibitions. From flat terrain to steps and stairs. INCEPTION creates an "experimental field" for robots to step into real-world environments.
