Updated version of the two-year data report on positive reviews (re-evaluating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic)
The packaging industry in Southeast Asia is gradually expanding as a whole market size. Originally centered around a "street food culture," it has taken a long time for "packaged processed foods" to grow. However, various packaging materials for processed foods, including barrier packaging, are now being introduced into the market. This report analyzes "film manufacturers," "converters," and "PET bottle resin manufacturers" that have entered the target countries as suppliers. In the Japanese market, packaging materials composed of transparent barrier films, including transparent vapor-deposited films, have grown to occupy a significant proportion. In contrast, Southeast Asia still heavily relies on aluminum-based barrier films (especially aluminum vapor-deposited films). There is also a persistent tendency to pursue metallic gloss over barrier properties. In China, a major packaging material country, the proportion of aluminum-based barrier films is overwhelmingly high. However, transparent vapor-deposited films and hybrid barrier-coated films are also rapidly emerging. It remains to be seen whether competition among transparent barrier films will intensify in China in the future.
