Technical Documentation Collection for Electrode Plate Manufacturing
This book corresponds to the revised edition of "Composition, Characteristics, and New Processes of Lithium-Ion Electrodes," published by S&T Publishing Co., Ltd. (scheduled for release in November 2024) (Note from the editorial department: This is not an updated version. There are additions and deletions of figures and explanations compared to the previous edition). While the technical content of this book does not deny the current liquid electrolyte lithium-ion batteries, the limitations of liquid electrolytes are already becoming apparent. We must transition to solid electrolytes and simultaneously rationalize bipolar cell formation through the dry process of electrode drying. The classical wet electrode process, which has already become outdated, will only become a bottleneck for cost reduction, even if new gigacell factories are built. Although it is referred to as "electrode," the crucial positive electrode material only deals with the new sulfur positive electrode, while the negative electrode materials include LTO, NTO, silicon-based materials, and lithium metal. The performance enhancement of positive electrode materials has nearly reached a plateau, and improving the power characteristics (W/Kg, W/L) and cycle characteristics of the battery (cell) will likely depend on the selection and utilization of negative electrode materials. Many transient combinations that have not reached conclusions and whose evaluations are uncertain are also discussed. While some content may be quite ambitious, I hope it serves as a catalyst for discussion among readers. (Hidetaka Sugawara)
