Unlike hexagonal types, its cornerless cylindrical shape allows for smooth placement in narrow spaces within enclosures or adjacent to other components, minimizing interference with surrounding parts. It is made of lightweight aluminum, significantly reducing the overall weight of the equipment compared to iron or brass. Its use in movable parts directly contributes to reducing inertial loads, greatly aiding in energy efficiency of motors and improving the response of the equipment. The surface is treated with "electroless nickel plating," which dramatically enhances the durability, a weakness of aluminum. The plating is very hard and dense, effectively preventing rust and deterioration over long periods even in harsh environments such as humidity and corrosive gases.
