Examples of motor adoption for product transportation and elevation in deep drawing press processing technology.
WGM Series
Technical documentation for deep drawing press. There are proven applications for product transport AGV undercarriage (WGM series) and motors for mold lifting.
Deep drawing press processing is a plastic forming method that applies drawing force to flat metal sheets to shape them into seamless container-like or tubular forms. Compared to machining processes, it has a higher material yield and can mass-produce high-strength, lightweight products, making it widely used for automotive ECU covers, battery cans, motor housings, and more. The processing mechanism involves a "die holder" that holds the material and a "punch" that draws the sheet into the die. Managing the drawing ratio (the ratio of punch diameter to blank diameter) is extremely important, as exceeding the limit of the drawing ratio can lead to fracture (bottom breakage). Additionally, as the processing progresses, strong circumferential compressive stresses are applied, and as the sheet thickness increases, "wrinkles (buckling of the flange)" are more likely to occur. To prevent this, it is essential to set appropriate wrinkle-holding forces, optimize R shapes, select lubricants, and perform "re-drawing (process design)" gradually in multiple stages to achieve deeper forming. Although Kuru Co., Ltd. is not a press processing manufacturer, it has a track record of using its own motors for "transport AGV legs (WGM series)" to carry heavy deep-drawn parts and for "elevating motors during mold setup."

basic information
■Main Classifications and Technical Points of Deep Drawing Press Processing - Cylindrical Drawing: The most basic processing with uniform stress distribution. A high drawing ratio can be achieved due to the even dispersion of strain. - Square Tube Drawing: The deformation behavior differs between the corner areas (where strain concentrates) and the straight sections (simple bending), making it prone to wrinkles and cracks, thus requiring precise mold clearance adjustments. - Combined Drawing with Stretching: The sheet is fixed and stretched while being formed. This method is suitable for cases with complex three-dimensional curved surfaces. ■Typical Defects in Deep Drawing Processing and Countermeasures - Fracture (Cracking): Prevented by enlarging the punch shoulder radius and die shoulder radius, excessive suppression of wrinkle control force, and improving lubrication. - Wrinkles: Controlled by adjusting the wrinkle suppression pressure and installing beads (wrinkle suppression protrusions) to manage the flow of material. - Springback and Dimensional Defects: To maintain dimensional accuracy after forming, pressure (bottoming) at the bottom dead center and reviewing the number of forming steps are used to freeze the shape. ■Motor Adoption Achievements Around Equipment - AGVs with wheel-type geared motors (WGM series) for transporting heavy items such as deep-drawn products and press molds. - Motors for lifting and positioning actuators during workpiece loading and supply to the press machine.
