This seminar is a course that explains the basics and latest trends in battery management systems (BMS) and battery pack design from the perspectives of functional safety and application examples. First, participants will learn about the precautions for using lithium-ion batteries, the functions and components of BMS, cell voltage and temperature measurement, methods for calculating state of charge (SOC) and state of health (SOH), as well as basic technologies such as cell balancing and fail-safe control. Next, the current status and challenges of BMS, the latest technology trends, and market outlook will be introduced. Additionally, design methods for battery pack specification design, selection of components, control sequences, enclosure design, and thermal management will be explained.
