This is a case where a high-pressure motor and fluid coupling were upgraded to a low-pressure 55kW motor and starter (VT Star) in the underground belt conveyor of a limestone mine. By gradually increasing the voltage and slowly accelerating, the system can smoothly reach full speed in about 6 seconds, even from a heavy load of stones. Please consult us about upgrading machines that need to be moved while loaded, such as belt conveyors and bucket elevators, or equipment using fluid couplings. 【Overview of the Implementation Case】 A usage case in a belt conveyor that transports stones mined in a limestone mine. ■Problem: We want to reduce the burden of oil replacement and inspection for the fluid coupling. There is a need to restart from a heavy load of stones, but there are concerns about the impact on the machinery and belt due to sudden starts and slipping. ■Implemented Equipment and Response: Replaced the conventional 3,000V motor and fluid coupling with a 200V motor and VT Star, applying control to gradually increase the voltage and accelerate slowly. ■Results: Smoothly reached full speed in about 6 seconds from a heavy load of stones (about 2.5 seconds when empty) without a fluid coupling. The need for coupling oil replacement and oil leak inspections was eliminated, and the voltage drop during startup was suppressed to about 7%.
