[September 6 (Thursday) Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture] Seminar introducing the general-purpose powder analysis tool "Rocky DEM" and the latest DEM technology.
We will explain, along with examples, high-speed calculations using non-spherical particles and coupling analysis with ANSYS tools. The prediction of powder behavior is increasingly in demand in various industrial sectors, including mining, civil engineering, food, and healthcare. There are many technical challenges, such as modeling particle shapes, the number of particles that can be handled, reducing computation time, and coupling with simulations from other fields. The general-purpose powder analysis tool "Rocky DEM" provides the latest discrete element method technology that can broadly meet the analysis needs in design fields through high-precision modeling of non-spherical particles, high-speed calculations using GPUs, and coupling analysis with ANSYS tools. In this seminar, engineers from ESSS, the developer of Rocky DEM, along with our company, will provide information to help you understand the features of Rocky DEM and the latest DEM technology, from an overview of Rocky DEM to an explanation of the underlying discrete element method technology, application examples, and the introduction of new features in the latest version.
It will be a stereo PIV for microscopes. It is ideal for measuring flow fields in microchannels in MEMS / Lab-on-a-chip applications.

Online Seminar on August 26 (Friday): Impact of High-Precision Material Properties on Press Forming Analysis Results
Have you ever felt that 'the analysis does not match the actual machine' or 'what is necessary for improving accuracy'? In press forming analysis, material properties greatly influence analysis accuracy. We will hold an online seminar focusing on the fundamental aspect of simulation, which is material properties, for those currently using or considering the introduction of press forming analysis. In the first half of this seminar, Professor Susumu Takahashi from Nihon University will give a lecture on the current state of press processing, including tensile tests at press forming speeds and forming analysis. In the latter part of the seminar, we will also introduce the material property calculation tool ESI Mat-Wizard for PAM-STAMP. ■ Event Overview - Date and Time: August 26, 2022 (Friday) 14:00 - 15:00 (60 minutes including Q&A) - Cost: Free (Pre-registration required) - Target Audience: Those using press forming analysis software, not limited to PAM-STAMP, or those considering its introduction - Capacity: 100 people ■ Agenda 1. Opening remarks and introduction of the seminar overview 2. Challenges of applying high-tensile materials to automotive parts and press forming analysis / Professor Takahashi from Nihon University 3. Q&A 4. Improving prediction accuracy with ESI Mat-Wizard 5. Q&A

[Case Study] Determination of Insertion Sites for Animal Cultured Cells and Plant Cells
Using the Agrobacterium method, we inserted T-DNA taglines into Arabidopsis thaliana and performed the RAISING method on mouse cultured cells with retrovirus vectors. We confirmed the insertion site sequences using the Sanger method and mapped the decoded sequences obtained from next-generation sequencing analysis to the genome sequence. As a result, it was confirmed that this method is effective for determining insertion positions in both animal cultured cells and plant cells.
