Heganesu Corporation has become the first company in the metal powder industry to be certified by the SBTi. Initially, the goal was to reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 51% from 2018 levels by 2030, and to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions, which include raw materials and transportation, by 30%. However, the company has continued to diligently pursue its efforts, accelerating its goals and achieving SBTi certification. Specifically, the goals are as follows: 2030: Achieve net-zero emissions in its own processes* (Scope 1, 2) Reduce upstream Scope 3 emissions by 30%, focusing on raw materials** 2037: Achieve net-zero across the entire value chain (Scope 1, 2, and upstream Scope 3) *Net-zero: Any GHG emissions that cannot be reduced will be removed using carbon removal technologies. **Refers to the processes from raw material sourcing to factory acceptance based on 2018 levels. What is SBTi? A joint initiative by WWF, CDP, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the United Nations Global Compact.
