[Case Study] "Electric Cooler Box" for Light Vehicles

No need for freezing cold packs, so anyone can easily operate in the same way!

We would like to introduce a case study from a customer involved in the manufacturing and sale of food products. Previously, when transporting manufactured food to nearby retailers, it was placed in Styrofoam and transported in a non-refrigerated vehicle. However, during hot seasons, the interior of the vehicle would become extremely hot, making it difficult to maintain the required temperature of 5°C, leading to concerns about quality. Therefore, we proposed a transport refrigeration box that uses the cooling unit "Eleking" and does not require ice packs. Since the box can be cooled using electricity, there is no need for the freezing process of ice packs, allowing anyone to easily operate it in the same way. [Case Overview (Excerpt)] - Temperature: Below 10°C - Industry: Distribution Food Manufacturer - Product: Eleking - Cargo Type: Food *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Achieving refrigerated transport at temperatures below 10°C with a non-refrigerated vehicle.

Place one large softbox on the sliding door section and one on the rear door!

This time, the long-established ham manufacturer that adopted our refrigerated box was planning to use an insulated Hiace for deliveries to nearby stores and other locations. However, the insulation performance of the Hiace alone made it difficult to maintain a temperature below 10°C, and they were considering additional refrigeration methods. Therefore, we conducted a hearing to determine the necessary size of the refrigerated space and the duration for which the temperature must be kept below 10°C. Based on this information, we simulated the appropriate combination of insulation performance and refrigerants, and proposed a custom-made dedicated refrigerated box, which they adopted. [Case Summary (Excerpt)] ■ Temperature: Below 10°C ■ Industry: Food Manufacturer, Food Wholesaler ■ Product: Soft-Box ■ Cargo Type: Food (Refrigerated) *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Refrigerated Box for Emergency Delivery of Frozen Goods

Introducing a case that led to a reduction in the hassle and cost of chartering refrigerated trucks!

The logistics company that adopted Eleking this time stores the products entrusted to them in their own frozen warehouse and delivers them using frozen trucks (2-ton vehicles). However, there are occasional urgent requests for small deliveries due to unforeseen circumstances, and in such cases, they have been chartering frozen trucks to handle these requests. Chartering a frozen truck naturally incurs costs and requires effort. Additionally, there is a risk that a truck may not be available for urgent cases. Therefore, they adopted the "Eleking," which combines a cooling unit and a refrigerated box, allowing for frozen transportation using regular temperature vehicles. [Case Overview (Excerpt)] ■ Temperature: Up to -15℃ ■ Industry: Distribution, Food Service ■ Product: Eleking ■ Cargo Type: Frozen Foods *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Reduction of Dry Ice by Reviewing Cold Chain Materials

We will introduce a case where we successfully reduced the amount of dry ice used per cart by 1 kg.

A certain supermarket has consulted us as part of their efforts to address environmental issues regarding the "reduction of dry ice," and they have adopted a dedicated insulated box for cart trolleys. Previously, they were using thermal shippers, which consumed a lot of dry ice to deliver frozen foods from the logistics center to the stores. By focusing on the low cooling performance of the thermal shippers and switching to insulated boxes, we successfully reduced the amount of dry ice used per cart trolley by 1 kg. [Case Overview] ■ Temperature: Other temperature ranges ■ Industry: Distribution ■ Product: Cargo ■ Cargo Type: Frozen foods *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Car-mounted Refrigeration Box

The ability to maintain a proper freezing temperature was the deciding factor for adoption!

We would like to introduce a case where our "car-mounted cooling box" was adopted by a customer transporting frozen roll cakes and ice cream. Previously, products were transported in a cooler bag with ice packs, but with the upcoming summer, there were concerns about the products melting. The introduction of refrigerated trucks was also considered, but the high purchase cost made them hesitant to buy. Therefore, we proposed our original compact freezing device, "Erekking." The ability to maintain a solid freezing temperature by supplying power from the car's cigarette socket was the deciding factor for its adoption. [Case Overview (Excerpt)] ■ Temperature: Other temperature ranges ■ Industry: Distribution, Food Manufacturers, Food Wholesalers, Chemicals, and Others ■ Product: Erekking ■ Cargo Type: Commercial Frozen Foods *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Refrigerated Transport Box for Pharmaceuticals

The retention time is approximately 2 hours! Appropriate insulation materials are selected to maintain the necessary temperature for pharmaceuticals.

We would like to introduce a case study of the "refrigerated transport box for pharmaceuticals" that we handle. When transporting pharmaceuticals between locations using refrigerated vehicles, there were concerns that the quality of the pharmaceuticals could deteriorate due to exposure to outside temperatures during the time from unloading the vehicle to delivering to the warehouse after arriving at the destination. Therefore, this time we manufactured a refrigerated box to maintain the temperature during the time from unloading to delivery to the warehouse, selecting appropriate insulation materials to keep the necessary temperature for the pharmaceuticals. [Case Overview (Partial)] ■ Temperature: 5°C (2–8°C) below 10°C ■ Industry: Pharmaceuticals ■ Product: Rock ■ Cargo Type: Pharmaceuticals *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Production Example] A transport box for precision parts that require temperature control.

Insulation box for quality preservation! A case where defective products due to deformation of the product no longer occurred.

We would like to introduce a case where we produced an insulated box at the request of a precision machinery manufacturer. When transporting parts of precision machinery to a different factory, we traditionally used cardboard boxes. However, due to the influence of ambient temperature during transportation, the products became deformed, resulting in a significant number of defective items. We proposed the use of an insulated box in combination with thermal storage materials for transportation. As a result, there were no defective items caused by product deformation, and the client was very satisfied. [Case Overview (Partial)] ■ Temperature: 20°C (15–25°C) ■ Industry: Chemicals and Others ■ Product: Light ■ Cargo Type: Precision Parts *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

【Industry-Specific Utilization Methods】Dining Out

At Wakon, we provide solutions for each temperature range!

There are points to consider regarding transportation in the food service industry. 1. Frozen cargo (must be kept below -18°C: e.g., ice cream) 2. Frozen cargo (cargo that is acceptable as long as it does not melt) 3. Partial cargo (around 0°C) 4. Refrigerated cargo (below 10°C) 5. Ambient cargo (approximately 15°C to 25°C: e.g., rice, bento, side dishes) 6. Ambient cargo (any temperature is acceptable) Generally, since the transportation vehicles for the food service industry are refrigerated trucks, I believe that categories 4 and 6 above are transported without issues. However, for the other temperature ranges, the only options are to use a two-compartment vehicle or to use refrigerated and insulated boxes. *For more detailed information, you can view the related links. 【Q&A】Is it better to package together or individually for temperature-controlled transport?

Packing together is more efficient for insulation! Here is a Q&A.

"A larger cooler box is more efficient at keeping things cold." If someone told you that this is proven by polar bears, would you believe it? This story is actually true. What commonality could there possibly be between polar bears and cooler boxes? For those who find it hard to believe, let me first tell you about polar bears. Polar bears are characterized by their very large size. So why are they so big? In 1847, a German scientist named Christian Bergmann proposed the theory that "larger animals have an increase in body surface area that is less than the increase in volume. Therefore, they lose less heat through their body surface, which is advantageous in cold regions." This is known as Bergmann's Rule, and it is the main reason why polar bears are so large. In other words, larger animals have better heat retention efficiency. *For detailed Q&A content, please refer to the related links.
