Brazing

Consistent production is possible! "Brazing" technology for joining dissimilar metals.

"Brazing" involves placing a metal with a lower melting point than the base metal between the base metals and joining them through atomic diffusion. Since the joining occurs at a temperature lower than the melting point of the base metal, there is less thermal impact, and it allows for joining at multiple locations simultaneously. Our company's "brazing" results in less distortion due to overall heating compared to partial heating, and it provides a high-purity, shiny finish. [Features] ■ Capable of joining dissimilar metals ■ "Brazing" using a vacuum furnace ■ Filler materials - Shapes: Powder brazing, sheet brazing - Types: Nickel brazing, silver brazing, etc. ■ Integrated production from parts design → machining → brazing → surface treatment → inspection For more details, please refer to the catalog or feel free to contact us.

Easy-to-understand brazing series: Atmospheric brazing and furnace brazing

Brazing requires the removal of the oxide film! The method for removing the oxide film differs between the atmosphere and the furnace.

From the easy-to-understand "Brazing" series, we introduce "Atmospheric Brazing and Furnace Brazing." Brazing first requires the removal of the oxide film. By removing the oxide film, the "braze" can wet properly. "Atmospheric brazing" requires flux, which acts to remove the oxide film on the surface of the base material. "Furnace brazing" removes the oxide film on the surface of the base material by creating an atmosphere of hydrogen gas or vacuum inside a furnace that blocks the atmosphere. 【Features of Atmospheric Brazing】 ■ Easy to perform while visually monitoring ■ Localized heating is possible ■ Can perform insert brazing and surface brazing ■ Suitable for small-scale production *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Easy-to-understand soldering series: What is soldering?

" brazing" is different from welding and soldering! Introducing the definition and mechanism of brazing.

Introducing "What is Brazing?" from the easy-to-understand "Brazing" series. "Brazing" is a technique that joins materials by melting the filler metal without melting the base material. "Welding" is a technique that joins materials by melting the base material. "Soldering" also joins materials by melting the filler metal, so the principle is the same, but "brazing" has a different melting point for the filler metal. In the mechanism of brazing, when there is an oxide film present, the molten filler metal does not spread, and residual substances like oil can hinder brazing. By removing the oxide film, the "brazing" can wet properly. 【Features】 ■ Thin plate joining and precision joining ■ Simultaneous joining of multiple points ■ Compatible with dissimilar metals and non-metals ■ High airtightness in joints ■ Minimal distortion due to overall heating *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Brazing process / soldering

Introduction to the essential processes of shrink fitting and brazing in metalworking.

Yaki-bame is a joining method that utilizes the action of metal expanding with heat and contracting with cooling. Specifically, it involves heating a part with a hole to expand it and then fitting another part, made slightly larger than the diameter of the hole, into the expanded hole. After that, natural cooling causes the hole to contract, tightening the fitted part. This is how the two parts are joined together. Brazing is one method of joining metals, where molten "brazing material" is poured into the area to be joined, and after cooling and hardening, multiple components can be joined together. It is distinguished from welding because it does not melt the parts themselves. It may be easier to understand if you think of it as similar to soldering. *For more details, please refer to the PDF or feel free to contact us.*

Soldering of pure copper C1100 × waterproof testing achieved through collaboration both domestically and internationally!

Hybrid support for overseas and domestic! Bandai connects difficult processing.

What was required for the brazed products was the assurance of water tightness. To confirm the inspection method using measuring tools, a one-way trip of three hours to the customer's site was initiated by Bandai's determination. However, the overseas processing companies that were considered responded that "water tightness testing is not possible." While they were confident in their quality, differences in inspection methods and philosophies became a barrier. Still, we did not give up. Pure copper processing was entrusted to overseas vendors, while water tightness testing was assigned to a reliable domestic partner. Bandai connected both, creating a breakthrough with a hybrid approach of "processing: overseas × inspection: domestic." What the customer needs is for the "products as per the drawings" to arrive on time. The flexible combination power of Bandai's "hometown processing network" meets that expectation. *This type of response is just a small part of what Bandai does on a daily basis. Please take a look at the value we can provide to our customers.

Easy-to-Understand Brazing Series: Brazing Method 1 - Atmosphere Brazing

Introduction to the characteristics of "hydrogen atmosphere" and "vacuum atmosphere."

We would like to introduce "Brazing Method 1 - Atmosphere Brazing" from the easy-to-understand "Brazing" series. Atmosphere brazing is classified into "hydrogen atmosphere" and "vacuum atmosphere." The "hydrogen atmosphere" uses hydrogen. The "vacuum atmosphere" performs brazing in a rarefied atmosphere evacuated by a vacuum pump. 【Hydrogen Atmosphere Features】 ■ It has a strong reducing power against metal oxides. ■ At high temperatures, low dew point hydrogen gas can reduce oxides of stainless steel, iron, chromium, copper, nickel, and others. ■ Oxides of metals containing titanium and aluminum cannot be reduced. ■ The dew point refers to the moisture content in hydrogen gas, and the lower it is, the higher the reducing power. ■ Hydrogen has good thermal conductivity and is environmentally friendly. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Soldering of iron and copper-based metals in a continuous non-oxidizing furnace.

Beautiful brazing of iron and copper-based metals! Achieve a finish with enhanced functionality and durability! Mass production is possible with furnace brazing.

In a continuous non-oxidizing furnace, brazing can primarily be performed on iron-based and copper-based base materials. Suitable filler materials are selected for the base materials to achieve a more beautiful and high-strength finish. When brazing in the furnace, reducing gases such as "hydrogen gas" and "DX gas," as well as inert gases like "nitrogen gas" and "argon gas," are used as the atmosphere inside the furnace. When iron oxide is heated in DX gas, hydrogen and carbon monoxide react with the iron oxide, resulting in a reduction reaction. Hydrogen and carbon monoxide are taken from the iron oxide, turning into water and carbon dioxide, and the iron oxide is reduced back to iron. (See image) By performing heat treatment in a sufficient reducing atmosphere, not only does wettability improve, allowing for good brazing and other processing, but it also prevents discoloration due to oxidation, resulting in shiny products. (See image) 【Types of processing possible with this equipment】 ■ Copper brazing of iron-based base materials ■ Phosphor bronze brazing of copper-based and iron-based base materials ■ Bronze brazing of copper-based and iron-based base materials ■ Silver brazing of copper-based base materials ■ Phosphor copper brazing of copper-based base materials ■ Bright annealing of iron and copper ■ Other brazing of iron-based and copper-based base materials *For more details, please download the PDF data or feel free to contact us.

About "Brazing Strength"

I want to achieve high joint strength with soldering! If you are struggling with joint strength, please feel free to consult us!

In brazing, by determining the appropriate "filler material," "gap management," and "joint shape" for the base material to be brazed, it is possible to achieve a very strong bonding strength. When joining with a filler material that is softer than the base material and pulling as shown in the left diagram, the lateral contraction of the filler is prevented by the hard base material, resulting in a force that pulls the filler outward at the joint (tri-axial stress state). Consequently, the filler becomes less prone to deformation, thereby increasing its strength. If the conditions are met, results can be obtained that lead to base material failure in tensile tests. *For more details, please download the PDF data or feel free to contact us.

Overview of Brazing: For Beginners

We introduce an overview of brazing, including its definition and characteristics.

Brazing is one of the metal joining methods known as "brazing (including soldering)." Its definition is "a method of joining materials by heating and melting a filler material (brazing alloy and solder) that melts at a temperature lower than the melting point of the base material, allowing it to flow into the gaps of the base material through wetting and capillary action, without melting the base material." Since brazing uses a filler material with a melting point lower than that of the base material, it minimizes thermal impact on the base material, allowing for precise joints that are suitable for thin materials and small components. 【Features】 ■ Can join without melting the base material ■ High airtightness of the joint ■ Can join dissimilar metals ■ Easily accommodates small or complex-shaped workpieces ■ Joints have excellent electrical and thermal conductivity ■ Facilitates mass production (automation and furnace brazing) *For more details, please feel free to contact us.
