Chromagar Malarial / Candida

Leave the growth of difficult-to-cultivate bacterial species to us!

▶ This medium is excellent for supporting the growth of lipid-dependent Malassezia species, including M. restricta, M. obtusa, and M. globosa, which are difficult to cultivate on conventional media (cultured at 30-32°C for 3-7 days). ▶ Some species precipitate the medium components, showing characteristic appearances (see photos 1, 2, 3, 8). ▶ Regarding the Candida genus, major Candida species can be identified by confirming colony characteristics. ▶ It strongly inhibits the growth of non-fungal microorganisms. ▶ This medium has high contrast and contains essential growth components in emulsion form, making it easier to recognize colony characteristics.

Campylobacter selective isolation "CCDA medium"

Easy to adjust! Stability is also good◎

Our company offers a variety of media for Campylobacter testing. To detect Campylobacter from clinical materials, various selective isolation media such as CCDA media and Skirrow media are used. However, it has been reported that resistant contaminants, such as ESBL-producing bacteria in feces, often hinder testing, becoming a significant issue. We have developed "CCDA Agar Medium (SEL)" that enhances the suppression of the growth of ESBL-producing bacteria. 【CCDA Medium (SEL)】 ◆ Strongly suppresses the growth of contaminants, including E. coli. ◆ Improved ability to suppress contaminants makes selective isolation from fecal samples easier. ◆ The black background provides a clear contrast with the developed colonies. 【CCDA Medium (Ox)】 ◆ OXOID's CCDA medium is a Campylobacter selective isolation medium that does not use blood. ◆ It excels in selectivity and strongly suppresses the growth and motility of other Gram-negative bacilli. ◆ It can be used for a wide range of materials, including food, environment, and clinical samples. ◆ Since it does not use blood, the preparation process is simple.

Group B Streptococcus (GBS)

Please make use of the GBS carrier survey!

Sample collection is ideally performed using a single swab to collect a sample from the "vaginal entrance," followed by the same swab or another swab to collect from the "inside of the anus" or "around the anus." In detection methods using commonly used blood agar media, cases have been recognized where isolation becomes difficult due to the presence of contaminants in the anal area or surrounding area. In such cases, we offer "Chromagar Strept B," which has strong selectivity and high differentiation capability. This is an enzyme substrate medium where GBS grows in a characteristic "lavender" color. Non-hemolytic GBS can also be detected. We also provide "Chromagar Candida/Strep B fraction medium," which allows for culturing vaginal secretions from pregnant women in one plate. Additionally, in cases where the GBS load is low, there is concern that it may be overlooked in direct isolation cultures. We offer "Lambquick GBS," a selective enrichment medium for GBS that allows for rapid amplification.

Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE)

VRE can be screened easily and selectively!

The most commonly isolated enterococci from clinical settings is Enterococcus faecalis, which is sensitive to ABPC. On the other hand, there are many ABPC-resistant strains of E. faecium and E. avium, and vancomycin (VCM) is required. However, in recent years, VRE (Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci) has also been recognized in Japan, and this has become a problem due to the limited availability of effective antibiotics. The sources of VRE infections are often feces and urine, and when VRE is repeatedly excreted from feces or urine, it can lead to widespread contamination of the hospital environment, increasing the risk of healthcare-associated infections. To prevent this, it is essential to quickly detect VRE infections or carriers, thereby preventing environmental contamination from excreta containing VRE. "Chromagar VRE" is an enzyme substrate medium that characteristically colors VRE (purple). It allows for simple and selective screening of VRE.

Food Microbial Testing Sheet Medium "MC-Media Pad"

No need for medium preparation; it can be used immediately after opening!

This is a sheet medium that can be used immediately after opening, without the need for medium preparation. It has a wide range of applications beyond food testing, including swab tests, stamp method tests, drinking water filter tests, and fallen bacteria tests, significantly improving work efficiency. The MC-Media Pad is a dry medium with a non-woven fabric layered on a water-soluble polymer layer containing medium components, allowing for the cultivation of microorganisms similar to regular agar media. Because it uses non-woven fabric, the diffusion of the sample liquid is rapid and reliable, and the colonies can be color-developed by the enzymes possessed by the microorganisms, making detection and differentiation easy for anyone.

Separation culture enzyme substrate medium "Chromagar Candida Plus"

"Chromagar Candida Plus" is an enzyme substrate medium for the isolation and culture of Candida species. It allows for the screening of bacteria based on the color and shape of the colonies.

"Chromoagar Candida Plus" is an enzyme substrate medium for the isolation and culture of Candida species. Candida species are yeasts involved in various infections known as candidiasis, which can affect damaged skin, the respiratory tract, the gastrointestinal system, and the urogenital system. They show a high incidence rate, especially in immunocompromised patients, and can also be a cause of nosocomial infections. Major causative agents of candidiasis include Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida krusei, and Candida glabrata; however, in recent years, strains exhibiting multidrug resistance to antifungal agents have been isolated, making Candida auris a significant concern. "Chromoagar Candida Plus" allows for the characteristic coloration of Candida colonies, enabling the screening of not only the major Candida species but also C. auris based on the color and shape of the colonies. For more details, please download the catalog or feel free to contact us.
