We received a consultation from a customer regarding the occurrence of rat-hole phenomenon in the hopper of an air transport device. They found it difficult to address this issue using other methods, such as knockers, due to problems like noise from impacts and damage to the hopper, and wanted to use the Blow Disc as a solution. After reviewing the hopper's drawings and contents, we assessed the situation based on our experience and determined that there were no significant concerns. Introducing a case study on the installation of a hopper for the suction transport of resin chips and resin powder!

We would like to introduce a case where the residual resin powder and resin chips in the suction hopper were eliminated. The customer was discharging and transporting materials by suctioning horizontally from the bottom of the hopper, but there was a problem where materials remained on the opposite side and sides of the suction inlet, rendering the level switch ineffective due to this residue. We installed one blow disk of type BD-15 on each of the three sides, excluding the side with the suction inlet. Using a controller C-SV1 with one built-in solenoid valve, we simultaneously aerated all three disks. At a synthetic resin manufacturer, they are measuring powder using an air transport hopper, which also serves as a dust collector hopper. They experienced discharge issues with this hopper, and neither a knocker nor a vibrator was effective. Additionally, a wire mesh filter installed just above the discharge outlet was severely clogged, causing them trouble, which led them to consult us. They adopted the Brodydisk (installed in the regular hopper section) and the Brodydisk Mini (installed just above the discharge outlet), which resolved their issues. This user mentioned that, in addition to the current powder, they sometimes handle "very poorly flowing and highly adhesive troublesome fine powders," so they installed more Brodydisks than usual compared to typical cases.
