The 'Preheat-kun' is also convenient for shrink fitting of molds and metal parts! A substitute for the furnace.

Whether you have a furnace or are using a gas burner for baking, please try using "Yone-kun" at least once and verify the improvement in work efficiency.

Shrink fitting is a method where a case is heated to around 400 to 500 degrees, and a room temperature nib is inserted inside. As the case cools down, it integrates with the nib to form a high-strength component. The difficulty of shrink fitting varies widely depending on the shape and size of the component, the material, and the interference fit. However, the advantage of the "Preheat-kun" is that it uses a contact heating method from below, so if the upper surface of the workpiece reaches 480 degrees, the lower surface will always be slightly higher, reducing the risk of getting stuck during the process. Additionally, it is suitable for small lot setups (low-cost products), making thermal management of each individual workpiece easier.

Would you like to remove the super hard sintered parts and return the raw materials?

Please feel free to consult with us at least once about the ultra-hard removal that you had given up on.

Some molds are made by press-fitting carbide nibs, but after using them as molds, when returning the raw materials, the value of the carbide can often diminish. While not everything can be removed, I would appreciate it if you could consult with me regarding any molds that are no longer needed.

[Precision Mold Design and Parts Processing Case Study] Improvement of Tool Life for Carbide Punches

The lifespan of punches has tripled thanks to ultra-hard material milling technology! We will introduce a case study for precision electronic component manufacturers.

When processing superhard materials with electrical discharge machining, microcracks due to thermal effects occur during the machining process. These cracks penetrate to a depth of about 20μm, so no matter how much you polish to achieve a smooth surface, they will remain. These cracks can cause wear in applications such as punches that are subjected to strong loads. In contrast, milling does not produce any microcracks at all. Milling tools can go down to R0.1, and the flexibility of the machining shapes is very high. [Case Overview] ■ Customer Industry: Precision Electronic Components Manufacturer ■ Consultation Content: Want to improve the lifespan of superhard riveting punches ■ Proposed Solution: Transition from electrical discharge machining to milling ■ Technology Used: Milling technology for superhard materials ■ Results: The lifespan of the punches increased threefold *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Press Mold Special Edition Mold Maker Column - Single Shot Type Edition

In the mold shop column, we will be sharing various topics about molds from time to time! (We also publish the mold shop column on our Instagram.)

This column is about press molds! There are several types of "press molds." - Single-stroke molds - Progressive molds - Transfer molds The main three are listed above. This time, I will introduce the "single-stroke mold"! A single-stroke mold is a type of mold that performs processes such as cutting, bending, and drawing only once with a single mold. The advantages include lower costs compared to other types of molds due to having only one process and a simpler mold structure, as well as the possibility of shorter delivery times for the same reasons. In terms of quality benefits, it helps prevent the "hull bottom phenomenon" and reduces the shift of the product's tip. (I plan to publish a detailed column about the "hull bottom phenomenon" later!) On the other hand, the disadvantages are that single-stroke molds tend to have lower productivity compared to other press molds because they are often operated manually, and they cannot perform complex processes due to having only one step. Single-stroke molds are suitable for processing items with small lot sizes or large-sized products. In the first column, I introduced the "single-stroke mold." In the next column, I will explain the "progressive mold"!

Press Mold Special Edition Mold Maker Column - Transfer Mold Edition

In the mold maker column, we will continuously share various information about molds! (We also publish the mold maker column on our company Instagram.)

In the previous columns, we introduced single-stroke and progressive molds. This time, we will introduce the third type, transfer molds! Transfer molds are a type of mold where multiple single-stroke molds are arranged in a row. Like progressive molds, they use coil material (for more on coil material, refer to Column 2). The molds are moved between each single-stroke mold using a fixture called a finger, allowing the process to advance to the next stage. This processing method is automated, making it suitable for mass production. The advantages include the ability to mass-produce due to automation and stable quality. Additionally, it allows for an increased number of processes compared to progressive molds, enabling more complex machining. The disadvantages include the difficulty in designing the transport mechanism to move between single-stroke molds and the fact that having multiple single-stroke molds in line results in a relatively higher cost. Transfer molds are suitable for complex products that require processes like drawing. In the next column, we will introduce the "hull phenomenon"!

Press molds: With the purchase of molds from two companies, not only can we implement BCP measures, but we can also achieve 〇〇!

Specializing in sales types, we have a track record of producing over 10,000 molds! Contributing to quality and productivity improvements by resolving technical issues!

"I would like to purchase molds from two companies as a BCP measure, so could you provide some advice?" Recently, we received this kind of inquiry from a customer. Molds are very important in factories, as manufacturing can come to a halt without them. Therefore, it is crucial to have multiple suppliers that can respond immediately when the need arises. There are cases where the specifications of molds can become a quality bottleneck, such as when a situation arises like, "If we could reduce the size of the part by another 2mm, we could proceed with this design, but since the mold couldn't accommodate it, we had to make significant changes to the design, causing delays." I have heard that recently, some clients are requesting dual sourcing. Our company has a department specialized in technological development that will do its utmost to address our customers' technical issues, so if anything resonates with you, please feel free to contact us. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to reach out to us.*

Are you troubled by the short lifespan of punch dies?

Are you struggling with the short lifespan of punches and dies at the Manufacturing World Osaka exhibition?

"We are troubled by the short lifespan of punch and die for press molds." "We cannot ensure the accuracy of the punch and die." "We want to improve the wear resistance of the punch and die." In response to the voices of our customers that we often hear during our sales activities, Nagumo Seisakusho proposes a processing method that differs from conventional electrical discharge machining. It is common to use cemented carbide or hardened materials for punches and dies, and electrical discharge machining or grinding is primarily used to process these hard materials. In this document, we will introduce the mechanism of electrical discharge machining and the disadvantages that arise from it, and we will propose processing methods aimed at resolving those disadvantages. Our company will be exhibiting at the Machine Elements Technology Exhibition in Osaka starting from October 4th. We sincerely hope you will visit us. *For details about the exhibition, please refer to the basic information!
