[Case Study] Amplification Efficiency of Bacteriophages

User-friendly airlift-type single-use bioreactor suitable for bacterial culture.

We would like to introduce a case study by Proteon Pharmaceuticals, a Polish company, which evaluated the amplification efficiency of Salmonella enterica enteritidis bacteriophage using the CellMaker single-use bioreactor system. The optical density of the bacteria was measured every 30 minutes. The dynamics of the optical density (OD) were compared between the culture of the bacteria alone and the culture with the addition of phage. The test results demonstrated successful culture and high-efficiency amplification of Salmonella enterica enteritidis serotype. Furthermore, process optimization was conducted to improve phage yield, and this process is now adopted as part of the production process.
