Corrosion and wear-resistant processing by HVOF thermal spraying (High Velocity Oxy-Fuel spraying)

It is suitable for thermal spraying of cermets such as WC-Co and WC-CrNi, resulting in a high-hardness wear-resistant coating.

This is an introduction to Kōei Techno System's "Corrosion and Wear Resistant Processing by HVOF Coating (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel Coating)," which focuses on the repair, regeneration, extension of life, and maintenance of parts. We conduct research and development aimed at enhancing the quality of parts, improving wear resistance, heat resistance, and anti-corrosion, similar to preventive medicine, to advance machinery. HVOF is a type of gas thermal spraying method that utilizes a super high-speed jet stream generated by the combustion of high-pressure oxygen. Because the material collides with the substrate at high speed, it forms a coating with very high adhesion and density, resulting in a high-quality film. It is suitable for spraying cermets such as WC-Co, yielding high-hardness wear-resistant coatings. 【Screws】 ● Supply machine screw ⇒ Photo 1 ● Conveying screw ⇒ Photo 2 【Crushing Equipment】 ● Inner wall of the crushing equipment ⇒ Photo 3 ● Wall surface of the crushing equipment ⇒ Photo 4 ● Processed inner wall of the crushing equipment ⇒ Photo 5 【Pump Parts】 ● Pump parts ⇒ Photo 6, Photo 7 ● After processing pump parts ⇒ Photo 8 【Powder Classification Equipment】 ● Inner cylinder of the powder classification equipment ⇒ Photo 9 *For more details, please download the catalog or contact us.

Metal thermal spraying and ceramic thermal spraying

Coating other materials on the surface! Enabling diversification and advancement of material functions!

"Metal thermal spraying and ceramic thermal spraying" is a type of surface modification method. By utilizing the inherent properties of the material and coating its surface with other materials, it imparts functions that the material lacks. This is technically achieved by accelerating molten droplets or softened powders at high speed to collide with the material surface, resulting in rapid cooling and solidification to form a coating, enabling diversification and enhancement of material functions. By applying metal and ceramic thermal spraying as a base for fluororesin coatings, adhesion and wear resistance are significantly improved. There are also coatings that do not allow any adhesion of tape or adhesives. [Materials] ■ Metal-based - Al, Zn, Al-Zn alloy: for corrosion protection - Ni-Cr alloy, MCrAlX alloy: for corrosion resistance and high-temperature oxidation resistance - Self-fluxing alloy (Fe-Ni-Cr alloy + Si + B): for wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance *For more details, please refer to the external link page or feel free to contact us.

About three times that of hardened steel... wear-resistant thermal spray roll.

About three times that of hardened steel!! Wear-resistant thermal spray roll.

The severe wear and tear of equipment can be mitigated by developing wear-resistant thermal spray materials that enable the long lifespan of equipment, leading to reduced maintenance costs and lower equipment renewal expenses due to the extended life of boiler systems. This approach accommodates a wide variety of materials, including general steel, stainless steel, cast iron, copper, aluminum, and other alloys, and does not depend on the base material's properties. By covering only the worn surfaces of inexpensive structural materials with a very hard coating, cost reductions can be achieved.

Printing cylinder thermal spraying

To our printing-related customers! Introducing a printing cylinder coating that prevents corrosion for an extended period.

Kurashiki Bowling Machine's "Printing Cylinder Thermal Spraying" uses a nickel-based metal that is resistant to ink and cleaning solutions, and by forming a dense thermal spray coating, it prevents corrosion for an extended period. This corrosion resistance is evaluated through accelerated corrosion testing, specifically the "Salt Spray Test" (JIS H 8502). Our thermal spray coatings have demonstrated resistance for over 200 hours in this test. Additionally, due to the presence of pores in castings, when using a plating specification, these pores remain as pinholes in the plating layer. To address these pores, thermal spraying is adopted as the coating for printing cylinders. In the case of thermal spray coatings, any small-sized pores can be filled during the application process. Furthermore, we have the technology for "On-site Thermal Spray Repair of Printing Cylinders," allowing us to repair damaged printing cylinders within the customer's facility. This eliminates the need to remove the cylinder from the machine, enabling quick application and rapid restoration. 【Features】 ■ Improved corrosion resistance ■ Addressing casting "pores" ■ Construction track record: over 20 years ■ Cylinder types: pressure cylinders, plate cylinders, rubber cylinders, reversing cylinders, etc. *For more details, please download the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Thermal spraying on calendar rolls (improving wear resistance)

It will be possible to maintain surface characteristics for a long time!!

In recent years, the application of thermal spraying to calender rolls has been increasing to prevent scratches on the rolls, upgrade the surface quality of paper, and address dirt issues. Reducing replacement costs through extending the polishing cycle is also a significant point. Furthermore, regarding surface quality, there are fewer scratches on the paper surface, leading to improved quality. With conventional chilled steel, scratches occurred during paper passage due to paper breaks and debris from the doctor blade. In the case of our thermal spraying for calender rolls, even if scratches do occur, they do not become significant. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.*

Introduction of Coating Case Studies for Chemical Plant "Shaft"

We will introduce a case where the lifespan was extended to about three times that before construction, contributing to maintenance-free operation!

In chemical plants, various rotating equipment and compressors are used under harsh conditions for tasks such as liquid transfer, stirring, and concentration, leading to concerns about corrosion and wear resistance. We would like to introduce a case where these issues were resolved through ceramic thermal spraying. ■Challenge The oil seal and mechanical seal areas experienced wear over time, causing the sealing parts to erode and resulting in leaks of the liquid being transferred. ■Proposal We proposed to grind down the worn parts of the shaft and coat those areas with ceramic thermal spray to restore the shaft. ■Effect The lifespan was extended to about three times that of before the work, contributing to maintenance-free operation. The reduced frequency of replacements was also appreciated from a cost perspective.
