The gas-liquid contact is achieved through water (circulation + supply) for cooling, fume removal, and the injection of caustic soda aqueous solution for pH control to absorb acetic acid. The target substance, acetic acid gas, was reduced from 25,000 ppm to below 1 ppm, and fume-like sublimates were reduced from 5 g/Nm³ to below 0.1 g/Nm³. At Kawasaki Sankou Kasei Co., Ltd., guidance was received from Shiga Prefecture, and a request for consideration was made to a certain famous wastewater treatment manufacturer. However, due to the need for a vast installation area with the coagulation sedimentation method, along with a large amount of sludge generation and construction costs amounting to several tens of millions of yen, they abandoned the idea. As a result, they introduced a TerraSt filling tower, which is mixed with active aluminum ions, where antimony co-sediments with the active aluminum ions.
