Evaluation of metal leaching from pharmaceuticals and food products.

We will measure the elution amount under conditions suitable for the intended use.

The Importance of Metal Leaching Tests for Resin Materials ● Medical Devices and Materials Since these are implanted in the body or come into contact with biological systems for relatively long periods, it is necessary to not only meet standards corresponding to methods such as the "Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency's Plastic Pharmaceutical Container Test," but also to conduct leaching tests appropriate to the usage environment to identify leached elements and evaluate safety. ● Equipment and Packaging Used in Food Manufacturing and Processing Due to the potential for chemical substances leaching from these materials to contaminate food, it is necessary to confirm the presence or absence of metal components leaching using methods such as the "Standards for Food, Additives, etc. (Ministry of Health and Welfare Notification No. 370 of 1959)" and the "Standards for Resin Equipment and Packaging Containers (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Notification No. 201)."

Evaluation of "Yuzu Skin" using the facial distortion pattern measurement device "SurfTRiDY".

The face distortion pattern measurement device allows for a more detailed analysis by displaying the "yuzu skin" surface as an inclination angle and curvature distribution in image form.

● The "yuzu skin" is captured as micro-surface distortion and displayed as inclination angle distribution images and curvature distribution images. ● High-sensitivity measurements (detecting changes in surface tilt of 1 mrad) are possible, allowing for observation of fine patterns. ● Maximum value, minimum value, and standard deviation within a specified area can be calculated. ● Map display, CG display, and CSV file output are available.

Evaluation of pH Shift in Glass Vials for Auto-Samplers

Do glass vials affect the pH of valuable samples? The answer is simple: "Yes."

pH has a significant impact on the ionization state of specific analytes. For example, a base with a pKa of 8.5 is 99% ionized at pH 6.5 using the 2 pH unit rule and 99% non-ionized at pH 10.5. When the analyte is close to its own pKa, unstable chromatograms may be observed, so it is necessary to adjust the pH to achieve the appropriate ionization state. Differences in the surface activity of vial glass and the leaching of hydrolysis products that affect the sample pH can be confirmed by monitoring the pH changes of deionized water stored in the vial. To investigate how the quality of glass, represented by the expansion coefficient, affects the pH of the solution, we measured the fluctuations in the pH of 18 MΩ pure water stored in an autosampler vial for a certain period at room temperature and compared the results with those obtained using polypropylene containers as a control.

Evaluation of sintered magnetic cores using EBSD

By using EBSD, it becomes possible to analyze the causes of the deterioration of magnetic properties in soft magnetic metal powder compacts.

The magnetic cores made from soft magnetic powder through compression molding undergo an annealing treatment after compaction. Factors that change with annealing temperature were analyzed using EBSD, and the relationship with coercivity was investigated. As a result, a decrease in KAM value and an increase in average grain size were observed with rising annealing temperature, which showed a tendency for coercivity to decrease. By applying these results, it becomes possible to analyze the causes of magnetic property degradation in compressed magnetic cores made from soft magnetic metal powders using EBSD.

Evaluation of dislocation density using X-ray diffraction (XRD) method.

Adopting a calculation method devised by a specialized research laboratory at Kyushu University focused on steel materials! Accurately evaluating dislocation density.

Our company conducts dislocation density evaluation using X-ray diffraction (XRD). X-ray diffraction (XRD) is one method for evaluating crystalline materials, and the diffraction profile is affected by lattice defects such as dislocations, allowing for the measurement of dislocation density. By adopting a computational method devised by the Kyushu University laboratory, specialized in steel materials (DF/mWH method), we can accurately evaluate dislocation density. 【Features】 - Adoption of a computational method devised by the Kyushu University laboratory, specialized in steel materials - Capability to accurately evaluate dislocation density - Dislocation density can be determined by theoretically calculating peak width *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Analysis Case] Investigation of Damage to Heat Transfer Tubes Made of SUS316

Investigation of the cause of malfunction! Introducing a case study on the investigation of the heat exchanger components of the electric furnace dust reduction equipment.

We would like to introduce a case study on the investigation of the damage to the tube sheet of the heat exchanger component made of SUS316 in the electric furnace dust reduction equipment conducted by our company. Cracks observed around the tube sheet welding bead exhibited characteristics of typical intergranular stress corrosion cracking in the microstructure. The wet chemical composition of the adhered dust revealed a chlorine content of 15% and a moisture content of 8-9%. It was concluded that measures such as reducing residual stress through stress relief annealing are necessary when using SUS316. [Investigation Results] - A microstructure exhibiting characteristics of typical intergranular stress corrosion cracking was observed. - The crack initiation point was identified as intergranular stress corrosion cracking originating from pitting. - The crack propagation area showed a quasi-cleavage fracture surface. - The air inlet side exhibited severe cracking, while no cracks were found in areas with higher temperatures. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.*

Orientation evaluation of electrical steel sheets using EBSD.

We will quantify the orientation of electrical steel sheets using EBSD and investigate the relationship with magnetic properties.

There are two types of electrical steel sheets: oriented and non-oriented, depending on their application. Electrical steel sheets are materials with significant magnetic anisotropy, and quantifying the orientation state is a very important aspect of material design. By using EBSD, it is possible to quantify the orientation of electrical steel sheets.

Quantitative evaluation of quenching microstructure using EBSD.

Quantitative evaluation of the hardened structure is possible using EBSD.

Due to the different crystal structures of martensite and austenite, it is possible to evaluate the phase distribution and quantitatively assess the area fraction of residual austenite using EBSD. Additionally, there is a specific crystallographic orientation relationship between martensite and austenite. Therefore, by reconstructing austenite from the crystallographic orientation measurement results of martensite, it is possible to measure the old austenite grain size. This method is also effective for materials that are difficult to etch.
