UV pad printing technology

UV ink pad printing is now possible! By installing a heater unit on the printing machine, the temperature is controlled to stabilize the ink viscosity.

Introducing the "UV Pad Printing Technology" from Special Abe Printing Co., Ltd. We use our newly developed silicone pad (UK type). Additionally, we utilize plates that have undergone special treatment. A heater unit is installed on the printing machine to regulate temperature and stabilize ink viscosity. Furthermore, a doctor blade specifically designed for UV inks is used. 【Benefits】 ■ The cured UV ink has overwhelmingly higher film strength compared to solvent-diluted inks. ■ It is an environmentally friendly ink that does not emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs). ■ The UV irradiator consumes about 1/30 of the power compared to thermal drying systems, making it energy-efficient. ■ It helps reduce CO2 emissions. ■ The fast curing speed of the ink improves productivity. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Conductive pattern formation technology using pad printing method

The formation of conductive patterns on three-dimensional curved surfaces, which was previously difficult, has become possible using the pad printing method.

We would like to introduce our "Conductive Pattern Formation Technology using Pad Printing Method." The pad printing method is a type of gravure offset printing. A printing pattern is formed in a recessed shape through etching on a flat steel plate, creating a printing plate. After applying paste (ink) over the entire plate surface, the unnecessary paste (ink) in the non-image areas is scraped off with a doctor blade. The paste is then transferred to a flexible rubber, such as silicone, called a pad, which is used to transfer the pattern onto the substrate. Since the paste (ink) is transferred using a flexible pad, printing is possible not only on flat surfaces but also on three-dimensional shapes with unevenness and contours. [Features] - A printing pattern is formed in a recessed shape through etching on a flat steel plate, creating a printing plate. - Paste (ink) is transferred using a flexible pad. - Printing is possible on three-dimensional shapes with unevenness and contours, not just flat surfaces. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Printing Example] Rubber Ball

Choosing the right ink is very important! Here are examples of printing on materials that are difficult to adhere to.

Here is an example of printing on our rubber balls for dogs. Rubber is difficult to adhere to compared to plastic and metal, making ink selection very important. Additionally, materials like silicone and rubber are also considered challenging for adhesion. For materials that are known to be difficult to adhere to, we always request a prototype to be made and confirmed in advance. 【Case Overview】 ■Product: Rubber ball for dogs ■Method: Pad printing *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

Printing Talk #4: What is Screen Printing?

Water-based, oil-based, solvent-based, and UV-curable inks are available! Various expressions are possible!

Screen printing, also known as silk screen printing, is a type of stencil printing. It involves creating holes (pores) in a mesh plate called a screen, through which ink is pushed out using a tool called a squeegee. Currently, materials such as polyester and stainless steel are used for the mesh part, but the technique was originally named silk screen printing because silk was used in the early days of screen printing. In this blog, we introduce the features of screen printing, the materials that can be used, and various decorative expressions. We invite you to read it. [Contents] ■ What is screen printing? ■ Features of screen printing ■ Materials that can be used for screen printing ■ Various decorative expressions ■ Examples of products that use screen printing ■ Items needed for printing *For more details, you can view the related links. [Printing Example] Printing on Eggshells

Transfer the ink on the plate using a soft silicone pad! It's possible because it's pad printing!

Instead of printing on boiled eggs, which are typically associated with Easter eggs, we will introduce a case of printing on more challenging raw eggs. The printing method used is pad printing. It became possible because pad printing transfers ink from the plate using a soft silicone pad. Since eggs can crack under strong impact, we set conditions to minimize pressure while ensuring a clean print, allowing us to print beautifully without any cracks or breaks. 【Case Overview】 ■ Printed Item: Raw egg shell ■ Content: Pad printing - Conditions were set to minimize pressure while achieving a clean print. * The ink used is not edible ink. * For more details, please refer to the related link page or feel free to contact us.

[Printing Case Study] [Sequel] Glass Marbles: Full Sphere Printing Challenge

Relentless challenge to full-sphere printing! Printing mandalas from two directions for 360-degree printing!

Last time, we challenged printing 180° on a glass ball with a diameter of 40mm using pad printing, but the result was a frustrating "the limit is 160°." The printing team continued to adjust the plate, silicone pad, jig, and printing conditions from the previous test. As a result, we were finally able to print up to 180°. We have printed the same mandala from two directions, achieving a full 360-degree print. [Case Overview] ■ Printed Item: Glass Ball ■ Content: Challenge of printing on the entire surface of a sphere ■ Result: Successfully printed up to 180° - Achieved a full 360-degree print by printing from two directions *For more details, please refer to the related link page or feel free to contact us.

[Printing Example] Small Lot Printing on Drink Cups

The print quantity is from 1,000 pieces! It is possible to print on sleeves, coasters, and food containers as well.

To differentiate from other stores, drink cups are an important branding item. While stickers can be done, we would prefer to print if possible. However, due to the large lot size, we might have to give up on printing... In response to such customers, our company offers small lot printing. The printing quantity is generally from 1,000 pieces, one point, one color. We use a printing method that is good at printing on uneven surfaces, so we can also print on embossed materials. In addition to drink cups, we can also print on sleeves, coasters, and food containers, so please feel free to consult with us. 【Features】 ■ Printing quantity is generally from 1,000 pieces, one point, one color ■ We use a printing method that excels at printing on uneven surfaces ■ We can also print on embossed materials ■ If it is difficult for customers to arrange cups, we can assist with that as well (arranging cups is generally requested to be done by the customer) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Printing Example] Pattern Printing on Cup Handle

By adding a slightly unconventional decoration, it is possible to create a product that is unique and catches the user's eye!

We received advice from the cup manufacturer that "printing the logo on the cup is common, so it would be interesting to do it on the handle," and we used pad printing technology to print a design on the cup's handle. The material of the cup is "recycled plastic (recycled PET resin)." It is well-suited for small quantity printing, making this type of printing easier. As a result, the top two diamond patterns are distorted, and due to the curved shape of the work, there is some stretching in the design. This time, we intentionally did not correct the stretching so you could see it, but it can be printed beautifully if properly corrected. [Case Overview] ■ Printed Item: Cup Handle ■ Printing Method: Pad Printing ■ Cup Material: Recycled Plastic (Recycled PET Resin) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
