We would like to introduce a case study of deep hole machining of a nickel alloy shaft, SUS630, conducted at Sakai Iron Works Co., Ltd. The shaft was made of a difficult-to-cut material, and the deep hole with a diameter of 12 mm and a depth of 600 mm was quite challenging. When the material was SUS630, we used a gun drill. For the nickel alloy, we manufactured special tools in-house for the machining.
