Examples of using solenoids and electromagnetic actuators with AC power supply.

A surge killer is not necessary because there is a diode bridge.

The SC silent solenoids (linear and rotary) manufactured and sold by Esclaf are actuators that utilize the magnetic force generated by the current flowing through the coil, designed to eliminate noise during operation. The rotary solenoid features a structure developed from the principle of reluctance-type pulse motors, designed with no contact points other than the bearings, making it silent. The linear solenoid applies the principle of linear pulse motors, with a movable iron core that has no stopping points, allowing for silent operation. Leveraging these characteristics, there are numerous applications ranging from industrial equipment that require noise reduction to precision machinery. They achieve a long lifespan of several million to tens of millions of operations, and their reliability is highly regarded in automation lines where failures are unacceptable. 【Features】 - When a large-capacity capacitor is connected, there is a torque-up effect, and the solenoid operates at a voltage of 140V. - When no capacitor is connected, the solenoid operates at an effective voltage of 100V (equivalent to a torque of DC 90V). How to extend the lifespan of a solenoid

By switching to molybdenum and Teflon treatment, it is possible to extend the lifespan!

A solenoid is a functional component that applies the principles of electromagnetism. The lifespan of a solenoid is greatly influenced by the mechanical wear of the sliding surfaces between the movable iron core and the guide (brass pipe). By applying treatments to reduce the friction coefficient at these sliding parts, it is possible to extend the lifespan. Generally, the movable iron core is nickel-plated and combined with an acid-washed brass pipe, with a lifespan estimated at 30,000 to 50,000 cycles. However, by applying various treatments to both the movable iron core and the brass pipe, the friction coefficient can be reduced, wear resistance can be improved, and the lifespan can be extended. [Methods to Extend Lifespan] - Change the surface treatment of the movable iron core and pipe to a more durable treatment. - Use the CA type. - Consider the installation method of the solenoid. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Solenoid Application Examples] Acoustic Equipment, Pinch Roller Device

Introducing examples applied to the pinch roller device of tape recorders and video recorders.

Here is an example of applying the SDC-type solenoid to the pinch roller mechanism of tape recorders and video recorders. This device is used for the pinch operation of tape recorders and video recorders, and the diagram shows the unexcited state. When the solenoid is excited, the movable iron core moves in the direction of the arrow, and the pinch roller performs a circular motion around the pivot point, pinching the tape between itself and the drive roller. At this time, since the drive roller is rotating, the feeding of the tape begins. The cushion spring adjusts the pressing force of the pinch roller. When the excitation of the solenoid is released, the movable iron core returns to its original position due to the return spring, and the pinch roller moves away from the drive roller, stopping the feeding of the tape. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Solenoid Application Example] Audio Equipment - Pause Device

Examples of applications for pause devices in cassette tape recorders, video recorders, etc.

We will introduce an example of applying the SDC type solenoid to the pause mechanism of cassette tape recorders and video recorders. This device is used when you want to temporarily stop the tape feed while using a tape recorder or video recorder, and it is done without operating the rotation drive source. The diagram shows the state where the solenoid is energized, the brake plate is separated from the feed roller, and the feed roller is rotating due to the drive roller. When the tape feed stops simultaneously with the release of the pinch roller along with the pause signal, the solenoid is de-energized, and the brake plate locks the feed roller with the force of the spring. As a result, the tape winding stops, and the tape comes to a complete stop. However, due to the clutch mechanism, the drive roller and the linked roller continue to rotate, and upon the release of the pause signal, the solenoid pulls the brake plate again, and the feed roller starts to rotate. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

[Solenoid Application Example] Vending Machine Lightweight Item Dispensing Device

Introducing an example applied to a lightweight item dispensing device for tobacco and similar products.

Here is an example of applying the SDC type solenoid to a lightweight item dispensing device such as for tobacco. The typical operating stroke of a solenoid is 3 to 10 mm, but when a long stroke of 60 to 80 mm is required, it is necessary to use levers and links to achieve the long stroke. The diagram shows the unexcited state, where the ejector is returned by a return spring. When the solenoid is energized, the lever is pulled, and the ejector moves in the direction of the arrow, pushing the item inside the case outwards. When the excitation is removed, the ejector is retracted and returns to its original position. If multiple items are needed at once, the required quantity can be obtained by sending a signal to the solenoid the corresponding number of times. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Solenoid Application Example] Office Machines and Equipment - Paper Feeding Device

Examples of applications using paper feeding devices such as typewriters, fax machines, and printers will be introduced.

Here is an example of applying the SDC-type solenoid to paper feeding devices such as typewriters, fax machines, and printers. This device is used for advancing paper of a certain length in a stepwise manner, and the diagram shows the unenergized state. By energizing the solenoid, the lever is pulled, and the tip of the lever moves to a position where the pawl is advanced by 1 to 2 teeth in the opposite direction of the rotation of the feed gear. When the energization is released, the lever returns to its original position due to the force of the spring, and at this time, the feed gear rotates, causing the roll connected to the feed gear to rotate and feed the paper. If a large amount of paper needs to be fed, the necessary feed amount can be secured by applying pulses corresponding to that amount. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Solenoid application example: Office machines and equipment - Cutter

We will introduce an example of applying the SDC type solenoid to a cutter.

It utilizes the high suction power and instantaneous operation characteristics of the SDC-shaped solenoid. The solenoid, coupled via a lever, is energized and attracts instantly (within 30-50 ms), cutting the roll paper or tape. The solenoid can easily return to its original position by attaching a spring to the device. For the operation of the solenoid, it is desirable for the movable iron core to move as vertically as possible. Considerations such as making the connection hole an elongated hole facilitate smooth operation and extend the lifespan of the solenoid. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

[Examples of Solenoid Applications] Office machines and equipment - Typewriter printing device

Introducing an example of applying the SDC type solenoid to the printing mechanism of a Japanese typewriter.

Japanese typewriters have more characters compared to English typewriters, requiring each character to be picked up individually. Additionally, due to the long operating distance of the holder, a larger lever ratio is necessary. By energizing the solenoid, lever (A) is lifted around the pivot point, and lever (B) is pulled in the direction of the arrow. The holder picks up the imprint and rotates around the pivot point to print on the paper. When the energization is released, lever (A) descends, and lever (B) returns. The holder flips back to its original position while the platen advances one character in the direction of the arrow. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.*

Solenoid application example: Vehicle trunk release device

An example of applying SDC type PL (cylindrical) solenoid to the unlocking device of an automobile trunk.

Automotive solenoids are required to be compact and withstand harsh conditions. The diagram shows a cylindrical solenoid in an unenergized state. When locking, the entire area within the dotted line is pressed down, and the hook engages with the fixed bracket to secure the lock. To unlock, the solenoid is energized from inside the vehicle or elsewhere. When energized, the lever is pulled, and the hook moves in a circular motion, disengaging the hook tip from the fixed bracket, while the entire area within the dotted line is lifted, unlocking the mechanism. By de-energizing, the hook returns to its original position due to the force of the spring. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
