[DL Available/Thermal Analysis] DSC Measurement of Chocolate 3 (Differences in Melting Behavior)

Scientific analysis using DSC measurements reveals that the melting behavior is different between the center and the outer edge of the chocolate bar.

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) can be used to analyze the melting, glass transition, thermal history, crystallization, curing, Curie point, and to measure specific heat of samples. By measuring the melting behavior, it is possible to assess differences in thermal history within the same sample. We are conducting analyses of chocolate, a familiar item to everyone. This case is the third installment, "DSC Measurement of Chocolate 2 (Comparison Between Products)." You can confirm the differences in melting between the center and the outer edge of the chocolate bar, so please take a moment to read the PDF materials. In addition to DSC, our company also specializes in various thermal analyses such as TG/DTA and TMA. ● TG/DTA: Can be used for analyzing moisture content, ash content, decomposition, oxidation, and evaluating heat resistance. ● TMA: Can be used for measuring expansion rate, glass transition, and softening point. We also have experience with other food products, so please feel free to consult us. ● Case Studies https://www.seiko-sfc.co.jp/case/index.html *Other materials are also available. If you request them through the inquiry button, we will send them to you.

Investigation of soft magnetic materials for EV motors

We will conduct benchmark research and development support for soft magnetic materials for motors, such as electrical steel sheets and powder magnetic cores.

By utilizing our material analysis technology, we can perform the following analyses on soft magnetic materials used in EV motors: 【Magnetic Measurement】 We conduct measurements of DC magnetic properties and AC magnetic measurements. Analysis of materials taken from existing motors is also possible. 【Steel Sheet Grade Investigation】 For electrical steel sheets, we can estimate JIS equivalent grades by comprehensively considering the results of material property investigations (such as hardness), component analysis, and magnetic measurements. 【Coating Investigation】 Using devices such as scanning electron microscopes (SEM), we can investigate the insulating coatings applied to steel sheets and powders. 【Development Support】 Many electrical steel sheet materials have a correlation between crystal orientation and magnetic properties, which can be quantitatively evaluated. By understanding the magnetic properties based on the orientation of the steel sheets, we contribute to motor design and improvements in manufacturing processes. Additionally, the magnetic properties deteriorate due to the strain induced by powder compression molding or steel sheet punching, but this strain can be quantitatively evaluated. This can be utilized for optimizing processing and strain removal processes.

[Analysis Case] Evaluation of Carrier Distribution in Crystalline Si Solar Cells

Evaluation of carrier diffusion layer uniformity in samples with surface roughness.

This is an introduction to a case where the carrier diffusion layer distribution of the surface textured part and the back surface field (BSF) part of BSF-type crystalline silicon solar cells was evaluated using SCM. In the textured part, the pn junction is formed along the surface irregularities, while in the BSF part, it can be confirmed that the carrier distribution is interrupted and uneven.

Air environment measuring instrument German design Air Monitor Series

Making the invisible air environment visible. Sophisticated German design.

Invisible air environment. The values of CO2 (carbon dioxide), PM2.5, VOCs (volatile organic compounds), temperature, humidity, and other factors in living environments such as homes, offices, schools, and accommodations are increasingly being "visualized" to adjust to a comfortable environment, which is a very important aspect of daily life. The CO2 (carbon dioxide) concentration serves as an indicator of "poorly ventilated enclosed spaces," which has gained attention even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only does maintaining a clean space matter, but high CO2 levels can lead to decreased concentration and work efficiency, as well as symptoms in the human body such as headaches, drowsiness, and fatigue. Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) from factory exhaust, yellow sand, pollen, and house dust, as well as VOCs (volatile organic compounds), have been associated with health issues, including respiratory diseases like asthma and bronchitis, as well as sick house syndrome. The Laserliner Air Monitor series is designed to "visualize" the values of air quality and aims to facilitate appropriate actions such as ventilation, use of air purifiers, and adjustments to heating and cooling.

Technical Information Magazine 202301-01 Terahertz of Crystalline Pharmaceuticals

This paper presents a case study that analyzes the vibrational modes of pharmaceutical terahertz spectra composed of molecular crystals in detail using first-principles calculations.

The technical information magazine The TRC News provides the latest information on analytical techniques that are useful for research and development, solving production troubles, and quality control. [Abstract] The absorption spectra obtained by terahertz spectroscopy reflect vibrations across the entire molecule, including intermolecular vibrations related to hydrogen bonding and molecular interactions, often making peak attribution complex and difficult. This paper presents a case study where first-principles calculations were used to analyze the vibrational modes in the terahertz spectroscopic spectra of pharmaceuticals composed of molecular crystals in detail. [Table of Contents] 1. Introduction 2. Calculation Methods 3. Vibrational Mode Analysis of Barbital 4. Vibrational Mode Analysis of Famotidine 5. Conclusion

[Analysis Case] Lithium-ion Secondary Battery

Accurate evaluation of the separator cross-sectional shape through sample cooling.

The separator, which is a key component material of batteries, influences the characteristics and safety of the battery due to its porosity, shape, and other factors. Currently, mainstream polymer materials such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), or their composite materials have low softening points, with PE being around 125°C and PP around 155°C. We will introduce a case where the structure of a PP separator with a low softening point was observed, and cooling was performed during cross-section processing to suppress degradation for evaluation.

[Analysis Case] Evaluation of Odor Components in Essential Oils

Concentration analysis of odor components using solid-phase microextraction (SPME).

The concentration of volatile components that humans perceive as odors can be very low, and they may not be detectable using the conventional HS (Headspace) method for GC/MS measurements used for analyzing volatile components. By using Solid-Phase Micro Extraction (SPME), it becomes possible to concentrate the volatile components and introduce them into GC/MS, allowing for the detection of many trace components. This document presents a case study analyzing odor components in trace amounts of essential oils.
