Solution for Metal Processing Plant Issues: Floating Oil Mist Dust Collector AC-900

Exhibiting excellent air purification capabilities at the installation site of machine tools!

From "local dust collection or overall dust collection" to "local dust collection + overall dust collection." To adapt to the changing metal processing technology and work environment, Amano has released a dust collection device for airborne oil mist. ● The product weighs only 20 kg, with an electrode mass of 5 kg. Its compact and lightweight design allows for safe suspension installation even with all-thread bolts. It enables easy installation and maintenance, fitting various equipment layouts. (*1) ● By distributing small units, the air mixing capability is enhanced, reducing stagnant points in airflow and achieving high air cleanliness. (*2) ● Adopting an electric dust collection method, it does not clog, ensuring no loss of suction power and no waste from filters. Regular electrode cleaning services are also provided by our company. ● Comprehensive expansion features. Centralized control of each device via a dedicated touch panel, operation linked with air particle monitors, and partial control for energy-saving operation are all possible. (*1) If the suspension height is 250 mm or more, the installation of "bracing materials" or "stabilizing wires (sold separately)" is required. (*2) CFD analysis was conducted in the same space. Simulations of large and small units confirmed equivalent results even with a 25% reduction in airflow.

Filterless Mist Collector MR Series

The performance duration has been significantly increased due to the self-draining system and inverter control!

This is a filterless mist collector that has evolved through four advancements thanks to the adoption of a new mechanism. It has become more energy-efficient and user-friendly compared to conventional models. 【Features】 ■ Evolution of Energy Efficiency By utilizing inverter control (with an 8-stage airflow switching function), optimal airflow operation is achieved. This energy-saving effect also contributes to CO2 reduction. *Inverter-compatible models: MR-10/15/25 ■ Evolution of Performance Longevity *Based on our test results The adoption of a self-draining system (positive pressure oil discharge) reduces clogging of the collection disk. The collection disk is positioned after the fan and rectifier plate, suppressing clogging that can cause a decrease in suction airflow. ■ Evolution of Maintenance Accessibility and removal of the collection disk have improved, reducing the burden of maintenance tasks. A structure that allows for safer maintenance in a shorter time has been adopted, resulting in approximately a 60% reduction in disk removal time based on our actual measurements compared to conventional models. ■ Evolution of Global Compliance Standard compliance with the safety performance standard "CE Mark" established by the EU. It also complies with TSCA PBT5 substance regulations (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's hazardous substance regulation) and RoHS regulations. The adoption of PM motors means it is exempt from overseas low-pressure motor high-efficiency regulations (with some exceptions).

[Case Study] Prevention of Dust Emission Exposure Around the Dust Collector

A case study of discharging and disposing of powder collected using the liner pack method without scattering and in a touch-free manner.

There was a challenge of wanting to discharge and dispose of the collected powder from the dust collector without scattering it. Therefore, by using a non-contact discharge system (liner pack), we can prevent powder scattering and exposure during the discharge process. This also helps to prevent spills on the floor and scattering during disposal. As a result, the discharge operation has become possible with simple procedures and operations. 【Case Study】 <Problems> ■ Since the dust collector is a standalone bucket, operators directly touch the powder during discharge, leading to exposure due to scattering. ■ Spills occur during discharge, necessitating cleaning of the floor. ■ Protective clothing and equipment are essential during discharge and disposal. <Benefits> ■ Discharge operations can be performed with simple procedures and operations. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Switching Food with Non-Repetitive Work Processes for Energy Savings

We will introduce a case study of energy-saving measures that combine automatic damper control for power reduction.

There was a challenge of wanting to eliminate wasted electricity because all hoods are being suctioned without overlapping operations. Therefore, we determined the suction points that can be linked with the hood 'open' and verified the energy-saving effects from the fan performance characteristics based on the correlation between the number of simultaneous suction and the required airflow. From a cost-effectiveness perspective, we considered specific implementation if it was an effective measure. As a result, we were able to reduce unnecessary power loss, and it also became possible to further enhance energy-saving effects by considering combinations with inverters, in addition to damper control. [Case Study] <Problems> ■ The 'open-close' operation of the airflow control damper is manual, leading to it being used in the 'open' position even when the hood is not in use. ■ Since all dampers are in the 'open' position, the required airflow increases, resulting in significant electricity waste. <Benefits> ■ Reduction of unnecessary power loss. ■ It is also possible to further enhance energy-saving effects by considering combinations with inverters, in addition to damper control. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Improvement of Powder Discharge Issues from Tank Hopper

Installed the nozzle in a valid mounting position! Introducing a case where powder was fluidized and discharge issues were resolved.

There were challenges such as "the bridging phenomenon occurring due to the properties of the powder, making discharge difficult." Therefore, we fluidized the powder using Amano's Flow-All Bin to resolve the discharge issues. By instantaneously releasing the compressed air (0.1 to 0.3 MPa) accumulated in the air receiver through a diaphragm valve, air is injected radially around, effectively breaking the bridges. As a result, this method is effective for powders that are difficult to discharge with knockers or vibrators, and it has become possible to address the issue with compressed air and simple electrical control. 【Case Study】 <Problems> ■ Difficulty in discharging powder ■ Unable to discharge even after hammering the exterior <Benefits> ■ Effective for powders that are difficult to discharge with knockers or vibrators ■ Solutions can be implemented with compressed air and simple electrical control *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Adjustment of Optimal Suction Capacity for Dust Collection Hood

Stable operation through adjustment of air volume excess and deficiency! A case of selecting duct diameter appropriate for the air volume.

Due to the layout of the ducts, it is often the case that the intended airflow for each hood is not achieved, leading to the issue of "not having the appropriate airflow for each hood." To address this, airflow dampers were installed for each hood. By installing airflow adjustment dampers, it is possible to adjust to the intended airflow. As a result, stable operation was achieved by adjusting the excess or deficiency of hood airflow. 【Case Study】 <Problems> ■ Local exhaust systems were introduced, but while the overall fan airflow is sufficient, the airflow for each hood does not match the intended airflow. ■ When the dust collector's filter becomes clogged, it is not possible to adjust the airflow on the hood side, resulting in reduced suction power. <Benefits> ■ Stable operation through adjustment of excess or deficiency in hood airflow. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Dust Collector and Central Cleaning Distributed Collection

Examine whether there are benefits from separation and recovery! A case study that achieved duct blockage prevention.

There was a challenge of wanting to easily collect concentrated waste from industrial vacuum cleaners at hand. Therefore, we implemented simple separation and collection near the cleaning attachment. By installing a pre-tank before the vacuum cleaner body to perform primary separation and collection, we reduced the load on the vacuum cleaner body and also mitigated the risk of duct accumulation. As a result, retrofitting became easier, and contamination prevention was achieved. 【Issues】 ■ We want to collect waste close to the suction point. ■ The amount collected into the main unit is large, and we want to reduce the amount of waste powder. ■ Due to concentrated collection at one point, the filter load on the vacuum cleaner body is high, leading to quick clogging. ■ When the cleaning areas are spread across multiple locations, the collected materials tend to mix. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Improved Suction Efficiency with Flexible Hoods

Properly relocating the hood (intake) in response to changes in dust generation locations! A case that achieved labor saving and improved work efficiency.

There were issues such as "decreased suction efficiency due to changes in dust generation points and the need for improvements in the working environment." To address this, we adopted a swing arm (flexible hood) to eliminate suction problems. As a result, while a fixed hood necessitates an increase in processing airflow, with the swing arm's range of motion, there is no need for changes in capacity, allowing us to maintain suction efficiency and achieve labor-saving and improved work efficiency. 【Case Study】 <Problems> ■ With a fixed hood, dust at a distance from the hood cannot be collected effectively. <Benefits> ■ Within the range of motion of the swing arm, there is no need for changes in capacity, allowing for the maintenance of suction efficiency. ■ Labor-saving and improved work efficiency. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Optimization of Dust Collection Ducts

Review the duct route to be as short as possible! Achieve prevention of damage accidents caused by dust accumulation inside the duct.

There was an issue with "slow airflow inside the duct, leading to dust accumulation in the duct." As a solution, we changed the duct diameter to optimize the airflow within the duct. The duct shape was revised to avoid sharp bends and cross-sectional shapes, ensuring that the pressure loss (resistance) in the duct section did not become excessively large. As a result, we resolved the static pressure deficiency of the selected fan and achieved a reduction in maintenance frequency. 【Case Study】 <Problems> ■ Decreased dust collection airflow due to pipe blockage ■ Damage and falling due to increased pipe weight from dust accumulation in the duct <Benefits> ■ Prevention of damage accidents caused by dust accumulation in the duct ■ Resolution of static pressure deficiency of the selected fan ■ Stabilization of dust collection airflow ■ Reduction in maintenance frequency *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Achieving Stable Operation of Dust Collectors by Reviewing Sensors

Stable operation of dust collectors by reducing false detection risks! A case of preventing false detection during vehicle passage.

In the process of collecting foundry waste materials, there was a challenge of wanting to control the operation of the dust collector through vehicle detection. Therefore, we controlled the dust collector using an underground embedded loop coil for vehicle detection. This prevents false detection when vehicles pass by and avoids the risk of physical damage to the sensors. As a result, by utilizing the loop coils used in the Amano parking system, we achieved improved maintainability and smooth parts supply. 【Issues】 ■ We want to detect the position of forklifts to change the dust collection location and open and close doors. ■ The use of sensors such as photoelectric tubes and infrared sensors poses a risk of damage due to contact when forklifts pass. ■ The site has a lot of dust, leading to frequent false detections caused by dirt adhering to the sensors. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Planning and Implementation of Regular Self-Inspection (Legal Inspection) for Bureau Discharge

Regular self-inspections conducted on behalf of manufacturers! Implementation plans considering system details, schedule, and budget.

There was a challenge of "difficulty in conducting regular self-inspections due to insufficient man-hours, even though it is understood to be necessary." Therefore, we outsourced the regular self-inspections for proper implementation. For large systems that require multiple inspection days and man-hours, we utilized long holidays for the inspections. As a result, by considering planned implementation throughout the year, we were able to diversify costs and reduce compliance risks. 【Case Study】 <Problems> ■ Due to the use of multiple large machines subject to regular self-inspections under dust regulations, specialized regulations, and organic regulations, the inspection process takes a considerable amount of time. ■ As these are ancillary facilities, it is not possible to allocate man-hours for inspections even on holidays. <Benefits> ■ Regular self-inspections can be conducted without disrupting equipment operation days. ■ By considering planned implementation throughout the year, cost diversification is also possible. ■ Reduction of compliance risks (measures against labor standards supervision). *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Indoor Installation of Dust Explosion Pressure Relief Type Dust Collectors

Introducing a case study that achieved indoor installation with explosion-proof bends and rupture disks!

There was a challenge of wanting to install a dust collector for explosive dust indoors, and issues with the explosion vent included flames escaping outside the unit during an explosion. As a countermeasure for when the dust collector is stopped, a "rupture disk" was adopted, and for flame protection during an explosion, an "explosion suppression vent" was implemented. As a result, by suppressing the release of flames through heat absorption and collision when passing through the suppression vent, the blast wave and temperature rise were mitigated, reducing damage to the surrounding area. 【Case Study】 <Problems with the explosion vent> ■ Flames escape outside the unit along with the blast wave during an explosion. ■ When the dust collector is stopped and the filter is cleaned, the vent cover may open, leading to the possibility of dust leakage. ■ The vent type is installed outdoors due to explosion risk. <Benefits> ■ Prevention of dust dispersion from the vent during stoppage. ■ Mitigation and reduction of blast waves and fires for the vent type. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Simple Adjustable Hood

The key to solving the issue is visualizing the work and suction! We were able to adjust the appropriate airflow with a hood that has an opening and closing function.

When using a damper, adjusting the airflow when changing the opening size is difficult, and there was a challenge of whether the airflow could be variable with the hood itself. Therefore, we adopted the "SK Hood," which allows for adjusting the size of the opening while checking the suction conditions of the hood. This made the work and suction visible. As a result, we were able to adjust the appropriate airflow with a hood that has an opening and closing function. 【Case Study】 <Problem> ■ It is difficult to adjust the airflow when changing the opening size when using a damper. <Advantages> ■ The main body is transparent, allowing for visual confirmation. ■ Lightweight and clean. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Measures to Prevent Spark Ingress into Dust Collectors

Limit spark intrusion to reduce fire risk! Demonstrate fire extinguishing effects (measures) with a unique centrifugal separation method.

There was a concern that sparks could enter from the hood due to sparks generated at the dust emission point, raising worries about dust collector fires. To address this, a centrifugal pre-dust box was added to the dust collection duct to reduce the risk of spark intrusion. (This does not guarantee 100% fire prevention.) Additionally, implementing features such as baffles on the hood side to prevent direct suction of sparks is effective. 【Solution Example】 <Problem> ■ Sparks are generated at the dust emission point and are being directly sucked in. <Benefits> ■ Since it can be retrofitted, it can accommodate changes in processing that may generate sparks. ■ Limits spark intrusion and reduces fire risk. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Stable and Energy-Saving Suction with PUSH Food

Air volume reduced by 42.2%! Improved dust collection efficiency and energy savings achieved with auxiliary airflow from the PUSH hood.

There was an issue where "the PULL hood could not be installed near the source due to installation conditions, resulting in a large airflow." Therefore, we considered the design of the PULL hood to match the shape of the PUSH fan. This achieved improved dust collection efficiency and energy savings through the auxiliary airflow generated by the PUSH hood. Since the controlled airflow can be reduced, it allows for a smaller hood airflow and dust collector. Additionally, if the position of the PULL hood cannot be changed, a PUSH-PULL type ventilation system is effective. 【Case Study】 <Problems> ■ The distance to the capture point changes with the size of the workpiece. ■ As the distance increases, the suction efficiency decreases, leading to a reduction in collection efficiency. <Benefits> ■ The controlled airflow can be reduced, allowing for a smaller hood airflow and dust collector (Supplementary face airflow: 0.2 m/s or more). *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Improvement of Capabilities through Food Enhancement

Food suction efficiency increased by 25%! Here we introduce a case where efficient collection became possible due to the flange effect.

There were issues with the external hood's suction power being weak (insufficient airflow control), making it difficult to bring the hood closer to the dust generation point, which affected work and resulted in an inability to fully capture the generated dust. Therefore, we checked the state of the airflow from the hood and the wind speed at the dust generation point. We added a flange to the opening of the hood. As a result, we controlled the necessary airflow through improvements to the hood, enhancing its suction capability. Additionally, due to the flange effect, we were able to capture dust more efficiently, increasing the hood's suction efficiency by 25%. 【Case Study】 <Problems> ■ The dust generation point is too far away, and the external hood cannot fully capture the generated dust. ■ It is difficult to bring the hood closer to the dust generation point as it affects work. <Benefits> ■ The necessary airflow can be efficiently reduced. ■ Improvements are very easy to implement. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Review of Centralized Dust Collection Method to Decentralized Individual Dust Collection Method

Air conditioning measures due to the dispersion of the processing room! Introducing effective examples of revising to an individual dust collection method!

There was a challenge of wanting to collect dust separately for each powder generated in the work processes. Therefore, we changed from centralized dust collection to individual dust collection (one machine - one collector). We established a separate individual dust collection plan by distinguishing between areas where line changes are possible and those where they are not. By implementing individual dust collection, the airflow velocity within the ducts became consistent, making it less likely for dust to accumulate inside the ducts. If you want to reuse materials at each process, prevent cross-contamination, or improve air conditioning efficiency, reconsidering the individual dust collection method is effective. 【Benefits】 ■ Easier duct planning (prevention of dust accumulation) ■ Improved air conditioning efficiency (dust collectors capable of outdoor exhaust) ■ Suppression of cross-contamination ■ Risk diversification (single-use dust collection) ■ Reduced equipment costs and easy expansion *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
