Features of Silvec's Chrome Plating 1. The appearance of the underlying nickel plating is directly reflected in the appearance after chrome plating. For example, applying chrome plating to a product with glossy nickel plating that has been buff-polished will yield a mirror-like finish. Similarly, if the material is buff-polished and then chrome plated over velour nickel plating, the velour's matte texture will remain visible. 2. Compliant with the RoHS directive. (Although hexavalent chromium is used in the plating solution, it precipitates as metallic chromium in the product, allowing compliance with the RoHS directive.) 3. Hexavalent chromium plating is difficult to apply to areas such as weak electrical components, which may result in exposed nickel on the backside of complex shapes. Due to this characteristic, barrel plating is not permitted. In some cases, fine screws may be plated at the back with mesh attachment, but currently, our company only performs stationary plating using jigs. Zinc-Cobalt alloy plating

The appearance is similar to hexavalent chromium plating, and it provides good plating coverage even on complex shapes. It is ideal for cost reduction from hexavalent chromium plating for small parts!

It has been used as an alternative plating to chrome plating. Since it has good adhesion for plating, it can be barrel plated even for parts with shapes like blind holes. When compared to trivalent chrome barrel plating: - Corrosion resistance (with the same substrate specifications): Trivalent chrome plating > Tin-cobalt alloy plating - Plating adhesion: Trivalent chrome plating < Tin-cobalt alloy plating - Which is more expensive: Trivalent chrome plating > Tin-cobalt alloy plating Hexavalent chrome plating has excellent film hardness and corrosion resistance, but it can only be plated using fixtures. In contrast, tin-cobalt alloy plating and trivalent chrome plating can be barrel plated, which leads to higher productivity and easier cost reduction. Direct copper plating on aluminum alloy

Q. I would like direct copper plating on aluminum die casting, but I was told that electroless nickel is necessary as a base. Is it not possible to do direct copper plating?

A. It is possible. The image shows direct copper plating on A5052 extruded material, but there is absolutely no problem with direct copper plating on aluminum die-cast ADC12 as well. Currently, when plating aluminum, it has become common to apply a base layer of nickel plating or electroless nickel plating, and then overlay the necessary plating layer on the nickel plating film. Regular glossy nickel plating typically has a hardness of around HV550-600, and the film often cracks when bent or stretched during crimping. However, our nickel plating allows for a crimp-resistant nickel plating by depositing a plating film with good ductility. We can accommodate both barrel plating and jig plating.

[Case Study] Functional Feature Improvement Case

Proposal for VE: High corrosion-resistant chrome plating "Alon Chrome Plating" for aluminum die-cast materials!

We would like to introduce a case where we solved the functional characteristics challenges faced by our customer and were adopted through a VE proposal. We received an inquiry from Company J, a connector manufacturer, regarding a connector housing for infrastructure, with the condition of plating on aluminum die casting (ADC 12) that meets "JIS neutral salt spray for 500 hours with no white rust formation." Among the conditions, there was a requirement not only for "corrosion resistance" but also for "no cracking due to crimping," which necessitated a coating with high ductility.
