The transformers installed in wind power generation systems are exposed to changes in current and voltage far more frequently than those installed in general power distribution equipment, and the extent of these changes is also significantly greater. Furthermore, they are often installed in mountainous areas, coastal regions, or offshore, operating under the influence of wind, rain, temperature changes, humidity, and salt air. However, there are often cases where the delivery route is blocked when adding or replacing transformers in the electrical room. When the electrical room is underground, issues such as weight limits on the delivery elevator can also arise. The winding is reinforced with glass fiber, and after setting it in a mold, it is produced using the "mold method vacuum impregnation method," where epoxy resin is impregnated while "vacuuming." The epoxy resin is endowed with self-extinguishing properties, so there is no concern about combustion, secondary fires, or explosions. The epoxy resin is a low-viscosity type that does not contain fillers such as silica. Therefore, the resin penetrates even into the interior of the winding. Due to the vacuuming process, no air bubbles enter the resin, making it a highly reliable insulation method with no concern for partial discharge (corona) that could arise from this. The winding has a monolithic molded structure, making it resistant to moisture and preventing moisture absorption. The glass fiber-reinforced winding has excellent mechanical strength, allowing it to withstand stress during voltage switching. The capacity of the transformer is determined based on the peak power consumption expected at the facility. Therefore, there can be a significant deviation from this capacity during nighttime, holidays, or certain seasons. In particular, in office buildings, the average load factor of the transformer, which is the ratio of average power to maximum power, is estimated to be around 30 percent, indicating that the time periods when standby power is at its maximum likely account for a considerable proportion.
