Improving noise and the convenience of assembly.

This is a bevel gear used in turret systems for machine tools. As machine tools are advancing towards higher rotational speeds, there is a demand for products that can operate stably under high-speed conditions for bevel gears. The challenge was to maintain quality while ensuring cost performance. When it comes to the condition of a bevel gear, both the gear and the pinion require higher precision. By ensuring balance and the precision of each product, we focused on enhancing the overall precision of the set. Although the product configuration has strict conditions for vibration and noise at high speeds, we were able to solve these challenges through years of accumulated know-how, leading to the launch of the new product. During the development phase, comparative prototypes were also made using gears from other companies in addition to our own. Resolving issues with poor accuracy.

This is a spur gear for manufacturing equipment for vehicle batteries. We received feedback that its thin-walled design makes it difficult to achieve precision, resulting in unstable quality. The deformation during heat treatment is significant, making it challenging to maintain the product's shape, and further special surface treatments are required. Due to the importance of managing the film thickness, it was a product with difficult dimensional management. Many of our partner companies are manufacturers capable of handling special processing. By not only focusing on standard gear processing but also establishing a system to accommodate special processing, we have enhanced the product's completeness. For production, we implemented process design considering distortion, created fixtures that are resistant to distortion, and performed dimensional management taking surface treatment into account, which allowed us to stabilize product quality. With the stabilization of quality, adjustments during assembly became possible, resolving issues related to precision defects such as initial vibrations.

This is a sensor ring gear used for position detection of the rotating shaft in machine tools. The indexing accuracy is of utmost importance for the gear that detects the indexing position of the spindle. Custom Gear Production Example [Bevel Gear for Machine Tools - Angle Head Side]

Simulation using the analysis software KIMOS.

This is a bevel gear for angle heads used in machining equipment. Due to grease lubrication, we received inquiries about persistent abnormal wear. Our investigation revealed that the cause of the abnormal wear was the lack of an appropriate gap (backlash). To resolve this, we conducted a specification analysis for the customer and proposed changes. Using the analysis software KIMOS, we simulated to create gears that matched the customer's operating conditions, and we revised the specifications to ensure appropriate tooth contact and backlash. By providing optimal specification proposals based on years of experience in specification analysis, the abnormal noise and wear that had occurred were eliminated. Furthermore, we were able to meet the demands for higher rotational speeds, ensuring more stable operation.

Custom Gear Production Example: High Ratio Hypoid Gear

Dividing device using high ratio hypoid gears

This is a high ratio hypoid gear for a dividing device. It can be manufactured with carburized material and ground tooth finishing, achieving both high strength and high precision. To realize a large reduction ratio of 1:30 within a limited product size, it was difficult to design the tooth surface with a pinion having only 2 teeth, which is not typical for hypoid gears. Additionally, due to the high sliding speed of the tooth surfaces, significant heat generation occurs, leading to changes in gear clearance and worsening operating conditions. To reduce heat generation, we determined that the following key items were necessary: 1. Improvement of surface roughness (selection of grinding wheels and optimization of processing conditions during manufacturing) 2. Optimization of tooth shape (increasing transmission error during design). With our long-standing expertise, we implemented surface roughness improvement techniques and tooth surface design, allowing for adjustments in sliding speed through tooth shape correction. As a result, we were able to achieve a very high transmission error, contributing to the production of a very compact gearbox. We successfully provided products that maintain accuracy equivalent to that of worms without any burning of the tooth surfaces.

If there is no gap between the gears, the transmission of rotational motion becomes poor, and further wear between the gears can lead to their deterioration. In other words, the presence of this backlash allows the gears to perform rotational motion smoothly. However, it is not enough for this backlash to simply exist; it is important that it is of an appropriate size. - In the case of spur gears and helical gears: For spur gears and helical gears, backlash refers to the gap or play on the pitch circle of a pair of meshing gears. The size of this backlash can be determined according to the JIS accuracy grade. The sum of the minimum values calculated from the face module (size of the gear) and the pitch circle diameter of a pair of gears is defined as the minimum backlash, while the sum of the maximum values is defined as the maximum backlash. [Proposal Example] Straight bevel gear to zero bevel gear

Year by year, there have been demands for quality improvement from end users. In mechanisms using straight bevel gears, there were significant noise and vibration issues that adversely affected the processed products. Due to the characteristics of the processing machine, straight bevel gears can only undergo finishing processes before heat treatment, which led to variations in quality due to heat treatment distortion, making quality improvement difficult. In response, our company proposed zero bevel gears that can undergo finishing grinding after heat treatment, implementing quality improvements through gear grinding specifications. Noise and vibration were significantly improved as well. Additionally, unlike spiral bevel gears, the twist angle is 0 degrees, so there was no need to change surrounding designs such as bearings.
