The introduction of ClassNK-PEERLESS streamlines the retrofitting design of ships. Expansion into other industries as well!

At Ballast Seven Co., Ltd., which specializes in the design of ship modifications, they conducted designs based on point clouds measured with a 3D laser scanner to accurately grasp the differences between the actual ship and the completed drawings. However, conventional 3D CAD systems could not handle point clouds, resulting in lengthy modeling times. To address this, they introduced "ClassNK-PEERLESS," which excels in automatic modeling of piping and steel materials. By simply selecting a portion of the point cloud, they could automatically generate piping and extend it to the appropriate diameter according to standards, significantly reducing modeling labor. As a result, they completed modeling for 300 shots in less than 80 hours, achieving a short delivery time of about three months from order to completion. Curved structures such as outer plates can now be easily created, and the improvement in model accuracy has proven effective in explaining to customers. The company is also looking to leverage this technology for expansion into land-based fields in the future. Case Study of Modeling Focused on Bridges: Expanding the World of Bridges with a Dual Approach of Point Clouds and Modeling

At Office K1 Co., Ltd., which is working on promoting DX for bridges, point cloud data is utilized to confirm the current state of existing bridges. To address structures like old bridges that do not have drawings, they have begun creating 2D drawings through modeling. However, conventional software struggled to balance accuracy and usability, and processing speed was also an issue. In response, they introduced "ClassNK-PEERLESS," which allows for easy operation and high-precision modeling. For the modeling of drainage system piping, they applied piping functions to steel members such as main girders and cross girders, creating an environment that can flexibly accommodate bridge structures. After the introduction, the time for a series of tasks from field measurement to modeling was significantly reduced from about one week to approximately 10 hours (per span). We would like to introduce a case where we undertook contract development. The business of the customer for whom this system was built had characteristics such as "the main products handled are small pressed parts," "there are a very large number of item numbers, and a wide variety of product shapes for pressing," and "there is a need to accommodate production of many varieties and variations." Therefore, we developed an automatic design system for press molds that utilizes 3D data in a seamless process from design to processing. By using 3D data to automatically output manufacturing information, we reduced the design man-hours to one-tenth of the conventional amount. We would like to introduce a case where we undertook contract development. We received an inquiry from a customer who designs molds using commercially available 3D CAD, stating, "In order to request processing from external partners, it is necessary to create drawings for all mold components, but since there are 200 to 300 parts, a significant amount of labor is required for drawing creation." In response, we developed a system that automatically generates various dimensions for the unfolded drawings created in 3D CAD. To enable efficient adjustment of dimensions, we also prepared a separate tool for dimension editing. Data conversion and modification software to assist in data exchange with business partners.

When exchanging CAD data with business partners, it is important to pay attention to the differences in the types and versions of CAD being used. If you do not have the CAD that corresponds to the format of the data received from your partner, you will not be able to open the data as is. Furthermore, even if the format is compatible, inconsistencies may occur, such as surfaces being divided into finer segments when loaded. We spoke with the Business Planning Office and the Technical Department of Mighty Mizutani Co., Ltd. about the usage of "spGate." The introduction of "spGate" was prompted by the end of product support for CaelumIII, which had been receiving CATIA data, at the end of 2019. We searched online for a new method to receive CATIA data and found "spGate." Due to frequent design changes from our clients, we use the shape comparison function almost daily. Previously, we visually checked two models by overlaying them in CAD, but this function has eliminated any oversights.
