PRESS RELEASE Japan International Cooperation Agency Kyushu Center September 14, 2018 A Company in Omuta Takes on the Challenge of Promoting Vietnam's Shrimp Farming Industry! ~Towards the Dissemination of Nature-Harmonized Aquaculture Technology Using Fine Bubble Equipment~ The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has adopted the project proposal "Feasibility Study on Improving Shrimp Farming Productivity through Nature-Harmonized Aquaculture Technology" (Vietnam) proposed by Nakajima Bussan Co., Ltd. (Omuta City, President Yasuhiko Nakajima) under the "Support Project for Overseas Expansion of Small and Medium Enterprises - Project Formulation Survey." In Vietnam, a large-scale shrimp die-off due to disease occurred in the Mekong Delta region in 2012, causing unprecedented economic losses for coastal provinces with shrimp businesses. Existing aquaculture techniques have relied heavily on antibiotics to improve shrimp survival rates, leading to the emergence of resistant bacteria and significant environmental burdens, necessitating new aquaculture technologies. By utilizing the company's fine bubble equipment, which generates extremely small bubbles even in turbid water, it is expected to enhance water quality purification and sterilization effects in aquaculture ponds, thereby potentially improving shrimp survival and growth rates. The aim is to contribute to the sustainable promotion of Vietnam's aquaculture industry through the dissemination of nature-harmonized aquaculture technology that minimizes the use of antibiotics and chemicals.
