Amid the numerous challenges surrounding hospitals, such as functional differentiation and staff shortages in light of the 2040 problem, as well as disasters and global warming, the recent surge in construction costs has had a serious impact on facility development. Reflecting on nearly 40 years of experience in hospital design, we must ask ourselves what can be done now in response to the clearly different trends we are facing. Japan's GOSAT series of observation satellites has been monitoring carbon dioxide, methane, and other gases for the past 16 years, and this data is utilized for estimating emissions at global and national levels. Soon, we will also start providing data on a satellite data platform.
