Free membership registrationOur company will hold a business seminar. With the arrival of a super-aged society and the increased public interest in healthcare and medical issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic, various healthcare-related applications and software products have been developed and released in recent years thanks to advancements in IT technology. Among these program products, those aimed at the diagnosis and treatment of diseases are subject to regulation under the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Act (PMDA) as medical device programs, similar to tangible medical devices and hardware. Whether or not a program falls under the PMDA regulations significantly affects the effort and costs for businesses in obtaining permits and complying with regulations, while determining whether a program qualifies as a medical device program is not straightforward. This seminar will provide a detailed explanation of the points that relevant businesses should pay attention to, including the applicability of medical device programs, the Personal Information Protection Act, and other related considerations. Free membership registrationWe will hold a seminar on "Legal and Financial Aspects of Battery Storage Projects." As the rapid increase in variable renewable energy sources such as solar power leads to frequent output curtailments, there is growing attention on battery storage projects from the perspective of further utilization of renewable electricity and securing adjustment capacity. Particularly, since the long-term decarbonization power auction started last year, the development of battery storage projects is expanding rapidly. In this presentation, we will explain the legal framework regarding battery storage projects, as well as the business models for these projects, the potential for utilizing the long-term decarbonization power auction, and the challenges related to project finance structuring. We will provide a clear and detailed explanation of both the fundamental legal aspects and practical points concerning battery storage projects, making it accessible for those considering entering this field. Free membership registrationOur company will hold a seminar on "Manufacturing Technologies for Fuels and Chemicals Using CO2 as Raw Material for Carbon Neutrality." With the arrival of the carbon-neutral era, fossil resources will no longer be usable. Biomass poses a risk of environmental destruction, and the amount of usable resources is limited. Ultimately, we will have no choice but to produce fuels and chemicals using CO2 from the atmosphere and hydrogen from renewable energy-powered electrolysis. In Europe and the United States, methane and methanol are already being synthesized from CO2 and H2. The production of chemicals has also begun. We would like to introduce these technologies and elaborate on the technologies required for achieving carbon neutrality. 【Seminar Details】 ■ Date and Time: November 20, 2024 (Wednesday) 13:30 - 15:30 (Doors open at 13:00) ■ Venue: JPI Conference Square ■ Address: 5-2-32 Minamiazabu, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Kowa Hiroo Building ■ Participation Methods: In-person, live streaming, archived streaming ■ Speaker: Takaki Muroi ICLab (Industrial Catalysts Laboratory) Representative *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationOur company will hold a business seminar. The steel and chemical industries are considered hard-to-abate sectors, making carbon neutrality challenging. This is due to the use of fossil resources such as oil and coal as raw materials in industries like chemicals, as well as the significant energy required in the production process. On the other hand, the materials industry can be said to create substantial added value due to its relatively long supply chain. Recently, the Society of Chemical Engineers published a position paper on the pathway to carbon neutrality for hard-to-abate industries. This presentation will explain the contents of this position paper and outline pathways to achieving carbon neutrality, including reforms to social systems, utilizing the supply chain. [Seminar Details] ■ Date and Time: February 19, 2025 (Wednesday) 16:30 - 18:30 (Doors open at 16:00) ■ Speaker: Masahiko Matsukata, Professor, Department of Applied Chemistry, Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering, Waseda University *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationOur company will hold a seminar on "Fundamentals and Practical Issues of Legal Affairs in the Data Center Business." Recently, there has been an increase in data center development projects in Japan, particularly focusing on hyperscale data centers. With the entry of foreign companies, the data center business, which is at the core of digital infrastructure, is expected to continue growing. However, because data centers possess characteristics that cannot be neatly categorized as traditional real estate projects or project-based assets, flexible and applied thinking is required in legal matters. There are numerous issues to consider, including structuring, financing, permits, and the positioning of customer contracts and PPAs. In this seminar, instructors who have been involved in a wide variety of data center projects will explain the latest issues in detail. Free membership registrationOur company will hold a seminar titled "Legal Risks and Countermeasures Associated with Carbon Credit Transactions." As companies work towards achieving "carbon neutrality," carbon credits, which involve the buying and selling of quantified greenhouse gas emission reductions and absorption amounts, are an option worth considering. Additionally, the carbon credit trading market will open on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in October 2023, and private markets are also being established, indicating progress in domestic regulatory frameworks. However, there are no unified standards for carbon credits, and their legal nature is ambiguous, which introduces risks into the transactions. Therefore, this seminar will provide a detailed explanation of carbon credit transactions, covering fundamental knowledge as well as the legal risks associated with carbon credit transactions and important considerations in transaction contracts. Free membership registrationOur company will hold a seminar on "Initiatives in Bio-Manufacturing." In recent years, there has been growing attention on bio-manufacturing, with predictions that its market size will reach approximately 200 trillion yen by 2030. The driving force behind this is the biofoundry, which utilizes digital technologies and robotics to rapidly develop smart cells. On the other hand, in the development of production processes such as culturing and separation purification, particularly in the scale-up development stage, costs and time are significant, creating a bottleneck for social implementation. To address this challenge, JGC HD has proposed an integrated biofoundry that conducts everything from smart cell development to process development in collaboration with Bacchus Bioinnovation, a biofoundry startup. This presentation will detail the significance of our efforts towards the integrated biofoundry and two bio-manufacturing projects that our company is undertaking.
