Our company will hold a business seminar. More than 13 years have passed since the accident in 2011, and with various support from both domestic and international sources, the condition of the plant has stabilized, and significant changes can be observed in the environment within the facility and the surrounding area. The decommissioning work is gradually transitioning from an emergency response phase following the accident to a more planned approach looking ahead. In this context, there are few precedents for decommissioning an accident-stricken reactor, and we are making progress step by step by gathering wisdom from both domestic and international sources to tackle the technically challenging tasks. Kashima Construction, the only major general contractor with a research facility specialized in marine studies, conducts cutting-edge research on the conservation of marine ecosystems, such as coral reefs and seagrass beds. The ocean, which is said to absorb about 30% of the CO2 emitted on Earth, is also attracting attention for its "blue carbon" storage effects due to the functions of marine ecosystems. However, recent advances in global warming have made it extremely difficult to fully utilize and harness the functions of marine ecosystems. Our company will hold a seminar on "Manufacturing Technologies for Fuels and Chemicals Using CO2 as Raw Material for Carbon Neutrality." With the arrival of the carbon-neutral era, fossil resources will no longer be usable. Biomass poses a risk of environmental destruction, and the amount of usable resources is limited. Ultimately, we will have no choice but to produce fuels and chemicals using CO2 from the atmosphere and hydrogen from renewable energy-powered electrolysis.
