[Seminar] Akita Prefecture's New Challenge Towards Sustainable Sewer Management

Akita's renewable energy regional microgrid realized through the utilization of resources and assets centered around the sewage treatment plant, held in Tokyo.

Our company will hold a seminar titled "Akita Prefecture's New Challenge Towards Sustainable Sewerage Management." In Japan, a leading country in population decline, Akita Prefecture is experiencing the fastest rate of population decrease and aging in the nation. As a pioneering prefecture in addressing these issues, it promotes the "functional integration" of the prefecture and municipalities through innovative approaches. In the field of wastewater treatment, under the leadership of the prefecture, collaboration with municipalities is advancing the regionalization and joint processing of sludge treatment and the consolidation of treatment facilities to improve operational efficiency. Amidst a shortage of technical personnel, the prefecture, municipalities, and private companies are collaborating to establish new complementary organizations, attracting national attention and receiving high praise from the government as the "Akita Model." Furthermore, as part of efforts towards a decarbonized society, the ongoing construction of a microgrid that uses sewage treatment plants as renewable energy supply bases is a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country. This seminar will provide detailed explanations of the "Akita Model" initiatives that challenge the declining population society and their future direction. 【Seminar Details】 ■ Date and Time: August 26 (Monday) 13:30-15:30 (Doors open at 13:00) ■ Speaker: Akita Prefecture Construction Department, Sewerage Management Promotion Division, Policy Supervisor Mr. Satoshi Kumagai *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Frequent revisions are made, and various regulations exist.

Our company will hold a seminar on "Latest Trends in Environmental Laws and Regulations and Points of Attention for Related Businesses." [Seminar] Legal Risks and Countermeasures Hidden in "Carbon Credit Transactions"

"Newly appointed manager" must listen!

Our company will hold a seminar titled "Legal Risks and Countermeasures Hidden in Carbon Credit Transactions." As companies work towards achieving "carbon neutrality," carbon credits, which involve the buying and selling of quantified greenhouse gas emission reductions and absorptions, are an option worth considering. Additionally, the carbon credit trading market will open on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in October 2023, and private markets are also being established, indicating progress in domestic regulatory frameworks. [Seminar] "Key Points for Creating Proposals for Revenue-generating PPP Projects"

Disclosing know-how to quickly seize opportunities: Next-generation "revenue-generating PPP projects" that should be participated in.

Our company will hold a seminar titled "Key Points for Creating Proposals for Revenue-Generating PPP Projects." The era when traditional PPPs were mainstream has ended, and the introduction of concessions and further PPP projects has begun, along with the emergence of new methods such as LABV. As new methods tailored to each project are introduced, relying solely on past know-how has made accurate project analysis difficult. What types of projects present significant revenue opportunities? What are the key considerations for realizing revenue? What is the level of risk involved, and are there strategies to mitigate it? What is the expected proposal? The know-how regarding these questions will be the key to the success of future revenue-generating PPP projects. From both public and private perspectives, we will provide know-how focused on several points related to revenue-generating PPP projects, enabling participants to quickly and multifacetedly assess whether a project is worth participating in and what the key points for proposal creation are. [Seminar Details] ■ Date and Time: August 8 (Thursday) 13:30-15:30 (Doors open at 13:00) ■ Address: 5-2-32 Minamiazabu, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Kowa Hiroo Building ■ Speaker: Nobuyoshi Takagi, Pacific Consultants Co., Ltd. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Seminar] Initiatives to Connect 150 Trillion Yen of GX Investment from Public and Private Sectors to Economic Growth

Acceleration of GX and Economic Revitalization: GX Transition Bonds and Transition Finance, 7th Basic Energy Plan.

Our company will hold a seminar on the initiative to connect "150 trillion yen of GX investment from both public and private sectors to economic growth." A stable supply of energy is a prerequisite for supporting Japan's industries and our daily lives. Due to the prolonged effects of deflation and currency depreciation, Japan's GDP has fallen to the 4th position in the world, and with a decreasing labor population, we believe that the key to revitalizing the Japanese economy lies in strengthening industrial competitiveness through the promotion of GX. In this context, the government's issuance of GX transition bonds is expected to significantly contribute to further promoting energy-saving technologies, which Japan has traditionally excelled in, and to the development of decarbonized fuels that Japan can lead globally. Therefore, in this lecture, we will return to the basic principles of energy, S + 3E, and elaborate on the measures necessary for Japan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and regain its industrial competitiveness. [Seminar Details] ■ Date and Time: August 5 (Monday) 16:30-18:30 (Doors open at 16:00) ■ Speaker Liberal Democratic Party "Parliamentary Federation for the Advanced Utilization of Natural Gas and Promotion of e-methane in GX" Deputy Secretary-General Member of the House of Representatives Mr. Shin Yamaguchi *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Seminar] Key Points and Remaining Issues of the "Next Generation Medical Infrastructure Act" Amendment

Cabinet Office

We will hold a seminar titled "Cabinet Office: Key Points and Remaining Issues of the 'Next Generation Medical Infrastructure Act' Amendment." The Next Generation Medical Infrastructure Act is a special law under the Personal Information Protection Act that promotes the utilization of medical data while protecting personal information. However, there have been criticisms regarding the previous framework, as the "anonymized medical information" that is utilized is difficult to use for research due to the removal of rare disease names, and its application for drug approval has also been challenging. The amended bill was enacted in the regular session of the National Diet in 2023 and has been in effect since April of this year. The main contents of the amendment include the establishment of a system that allows the use of "pseudonymized medical information" and the possibility of linking data from this law with data from sources like the NDB. In the lecture, in addition to an explanation of the amended law, we will provide detailed information on the government's efforts to promote the secondary use of medical data, as far as possible. [Seminar Details] ■ Date and Time: July 12 (Friday) 10:00 - 11:30 (Doors open at 9:30) ■ Venue: JPI Conference Square ■ Speaker: Cabinet Office Deputy Director of the Health and Medical Strategy Promotion Office (Concurrent) Cabinet Secretariat Councilor Mr. Keiji Takebayashi *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Seminar] Practical Work on Urban Redevelopment Projects

Explanation of the Complex Urban Redevelopment Law and Considerations for the Use of SPC

Our company will hold a seminar on "Practical Aspects of Urban Redevelopment Projects." In recent years, many urban redevelopment projects based on the Urban Redevelopment Act have been planned and implemented, particularly in urban areas such as Tokyo. Promoting urban redevelopment projects requires a very complex process compared to the usual building replacements, including gathering consensus among neighboring landowners and obtaining approvals from the government, which can take a long time to complete. However, by being carried out as public works, large-scale redevelopment that includes relaxations of floor area ratios becomes feasible. Additionally, with the increase in urban redevelopment, there are also more cases considering the use of Special Purpose Companies (SPCs), but there are several legal considerations when utilizing SPCs. This seminar will provide an overview of the complex Urban Redevelopment Act and will also explain in detail the practical considerations when using SPCs. [Seminar Details] ■ Date and Time: August 9 (Friday) 13:30 - 15:30 (Doors open at 13:00) ■ Venue: JPI Conference Square ■ Speaker: Toki Uechi, Partner and Attorney at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto Law Firm *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

J-Oil Mills, Inc. Efforts Toward Building a Supply Chain Model and Future Prospects

Our company will hold a seminar titled "J-Oil Mills, Inc.: Efforts and Future Prospects for Building a Biojet Fuel Supply Chain Model Utilizing Plant Oils and Fats That Do Not Compete with Food." In order to build a future SAF supply chain in our country, we are focusing on non-food competing oilseed plant materials as a response to the major challenge of raw material procurement. We are considering an SAF supply scheme utilizing our oil extraction and refining technology as part of a NEDO grant project. In collaboration with the national government, Okinawa Prefectural Government, and companies and academia both within and outside the prefecture, we are demonstrating that SAF can be produced using oils extracted from non-edible oilseed crops grown in Okinawa Prefecture, and we are developing oil extraction and refining technologies for non-edible oilseed crops to improve SAF yields. At the same time, challenges related to SAF production in Japan and the utilization of underutilized resources have also become apparent, so we will provide detailed explanations of the direction for addressing these challenges in collaboration with government agencies and others in the future. Our company will hold a seminar titled "Price Strategies, Development Strategy Directions, and Business Opportunities in the Semiconductor Industry."
