Our company will hold a seminar titled "Akita Prefecture's New Challenge Towards Sustainable Sewerage Management." In Japan, a leading country in population decline, Akita Prefecture is experiencing the fastest rate of population decrease and aging in the nation. As a pioneering prefecture in addressing these issues, it promotes the "functional integration" of the prefecture and municipalities through innovative approaches. In the field of wastewater treatment, under the leadership of the prefecture, collaboration with municipalities is advancing the regionalization and joint processing of sludge treatment and the consolidation of treatment facilities to improve operational efficiency. Amidst a shortage of technical personnel, the prefecture, municipalities, and private companies are collaborating to establish new complementary organizations, attracting national attention and receiving high praise from the government as the "Akita Model." Furthermore, as part of efforts towards a decarbonized society, the ongoing construction of a microgrid that uses sewage treatment plants as renewable energy supply bases is a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country. This seminar will provide detailed explanations of the "Akita Model" initiatives that challenge the declining population society and their future direction. 【Seminar Details】 ■ Date and Time: August 26 (Monday) 13:30-15:30 (Doors open at 13:00) ■ Speaker: Akita Prefecture Construction Department, Sewerage Management Promotion Division, Policy Supervisor Mr. Satoshi Kumagai *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe will hold a seminar titled "Cabinet Office: Key Points and Remaining Issues of the 'Next Generation Medical Infrastructure Act' Amendment." The Next Generation Medical Infrastructure Act is a special law under the Personal Information Protection Act that promotes the utilization of medical data while protecting personal information. However, there have been criticisms regarding the previous framework, as the "anonymized medical information" that is utilized is difficult to use for research due to the removal of rare disease names, and its application for drug approval has also been challenging. The amended bill was enacted in the regular session of the National Diet in 2023 and has been in effect since April of this year. The main contents of the amendment include the establishment of a system that allows the use of "pseudonymized medical information" and the possibility of linking data from this law with data from sources like the NDB. In the lecture, in addition to an explanation of the amended law, we will provide detailed information on the government's efforts to promote the secondary use of medical data, as far as possible. Free membership registrationOur company will hold a seminar on "Practical Aspects of Urban Redevelopment Projects." In recent years, many urban redevelopment projects based on the Urban Redevelopment Act have been planned and implemented, particularly in urban areas such as Tokyo. Promoting urban redevelopment projects requires a very complex process compared to the usual building replacements, including gathering consensus among neighboring landowners and obtaining approvals from the government, which can take a long time to complete. However, by being carried out as public works, large-scale redevelopment that includes relaxations of floor area ratios becomes feasible. Additionally, with the increase in urban redevelopment, there are also more cases considering the use of Special Purpose Companies (SPCs), but there are several legal considerations when utilizing SPCs. This seminar will provide an overview of the complex Urban Redevelopment Act and will also explain in detail the practical considerations when using SPCs.
