This high voltage impulse insulation tester for solar modules applies a standard surge voltage waveform of 1.2/50μs, in accordance with the international standard IEC61730-2, section 10.5 (Impulse Voltage Test), to test the insulation condition of solar (photovoltaic) modules. The copper foil coating inside the solar module has a relatively high capacitance of about 10-183nF. Since it can generate the specified impulse waveform for different EUTs with such high capacitance, testing of solar modules of various dimensions is possible. Additionally, by employing seven different pulse-forming networks in the high voltage pulse generator circuit, it is capable of producing precise test impulses. The operation is designed to be safe and reliable for conducting IEC-compliant tests through an extremely easy-to-use front panel operation key.
