Free membership registrationThe river water around the Yonago River No. 1 Power Plant in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture, has a strong acidity with a pH of 3.23, making it unsuitable for agricultural use and as a habitat for fish. However, in order to effectively utilize resources and contribute to the community while ensuring environmental conservation through profit return, the establishment of a hydroelectric power plant was initiated. In this context, we were approached through the Ipros site, and we had the opportunity to visit the site. We had detailed discussions to propose products that our company could assist with. As a result, we were evaluated positively for our extensive delivery track record to power plants, quality and inspection systems, and our ability to create documentation, leading to our adoption. The welded pipe fittings we supplied this time are made of stainless steel, model 90-45EL, material SUS304W, sizes 600A and 400A, with a thickness of S10S. We believe that stainless steel, which is highly resistant to corrosion, is essential for the river water with strong acidity used in hydroelectric power plants. In this way, Benkan Kiko's welded pipe fittings are used in various places.

Free membership registrationThe 3DR elbow is a type of pipe fitting that is often used in gas pipelines. It is primarily manufactured through high-frequency bending, which requires an extra length of 1OD (1 outer diameter) as a gripping area during the manufacturing process. However, this extra length can make transportation cumbersome. Additionally, when buried, the extra length necessitates deeper excavation during construction, increasing the labor involved, including handling. Since many products are used for mainline applications, the impact on costs is significant. However, if manufactured using the mandrel method, the absence of extra length improves loading efficiency onto trucks and eliminates the need for deeper excavation during underground installation in local pipelines, making construction easier. Furthermore, the wall thickness of the bent section is nearly uniform, and the entire elbow undergoes heat treatment, resulting in consistent mechanical properties and high quality, with no discontinuities in wall thickness, making it safe for use in high-pressure pipeline mainlines. At Benkan Kiko, we offer 3DR elbows manufactured using the mandrel bending method. We can provide cost-benefit analyses, so please feel free to consult with us.

Free membership registrationThe product we are introducing this time is an elbow with a rectifying plate. A rectifying plate is a plate that is installed on the inside of pipe fittings such as elbows, and it serves to streamline the flow of fluid passing through the piping. When welding the rectifying plate, it is necessary to consider the bending radius (angle) of both the elbow and the welding plate, which requires a high level of skill. At Benkan Kiko, we have received high praise from our customers by being able to accommodate special products thanks to our high technical capabilities cultivated over many years. We can manufacture in various materials and sizes, so please feel free to contact us first.

Free membership registrationThe photo shows a lateral pipe where the branch pipe is connected diagonally to the main pipe. The connection of the branch pipe requires saddle welding on a curved surface, and since the branch pipe is connected at an angle rather than at a right angle, the connection surface becomes elliptical, which demands a very high level of skill from the welder. Additionally, a backing plate (pad) is welded to the main pipe using fillet welding. The backing plate is applied to reinforce the piping branch, and when performing prefabrication or on-site piping, there are concerns that directly welding support materials or foot materials to the product may affect the quality of the main pipe and the qualifications of the welders performing that welding. Therefore, the backing plate is used to address such concerns. The manufacturing of this backing plate also requires high forming skills to match the curved shape of the main pipe, but Benkan Kiko is capable of handling this. At Benkan Kiko, we can supply high-quality products through excellent welding technology and precise forming techniques.

Free membership registrationThe 45° YT product is a pipe fitting used for merging from two directions or branching into two directions. It typically branches at a 90° angle to the main pipe, but it is designed to branch at a 45° angle to ensure smooth fluid flow. When branching the piping at a 45° angle, it is usually necessary to connect a 45° elbow to a 90° branch tee, but by using the 45° YT, branching can be done in a more space-saving manner. This product is used in nuclear power plants and is managed under strict quality control. The available sizes are 50A, 80A, and 100A. For information regarding materials and applicable sizes, please inquire.

Free membership registrationSteel products are easily corroded when left uncoated in the atmosphere, and rust occurs electrochemically due to oxygen and moisture in the air. It is possible to protect the products from corrosion and aging conditions by applying paint. Steel products used in plants and pipelines are particularly often painted, and at Benkan Kiko, we can supply products that have been painted or coated with customer-specified paints, thereby reducing the need for on-site painting work. For products that do not have special painting instructions, we apply temporary rust prevention that suppresses rust for about six months during indoor storage.

Free membership registrationSu (Esu Yuu) pipe fittings are thin-walled stainless steel butt-welded pipe fittings (JIS B 2309) that have been reduced in thickness to a level suitable for general piping stainless steel pipes (JIS G 3448 TPD). This thinning has achieved a reduction in the weight of the piping and a decrease in costs, which has led to a reduction in on-site construction burdens and has received positive feedback. The material used is often [SUS304WD] since it is for general piping, but in special environments such as buried corrosion resistance, [SUS316WD] may be used. Our company can accommodate both options. The maximum specification pressure is 2.0 MPa.

Free membership registrationIn the variety of welded pipe fittings, elbows, Ts, and reducers are common, but fittings that have branches on the top and bottom resembling a T are referred to as crosses due to their cross-shaped design. This type of pipe fitting is not specified in JIS standards and is mostly manufactured by machining from forged materials. However, Benkan Kiko is capable of producing them using the bulging method (hydraulic forming) from seamless pipes. The machining method tends to result in heavier weights and often produces angular shapes, which can make welding at construction sites difficult. Additionally, the method of machining from a solid block requires a significant amount of material, leading to higher material costs and increased processing costs. Manufacturing through shaping from seamless pipes allows for smooth shapes, uniform wall thickness, and lighter product weights, while also achieving cost reductions. This cost advantage becomes more pronounced with high-cost materials such as stainless steel and non-ferrous metals like nickel, resulting in significant benefits. For more details, please feel free to consult our sales office.

Free membership registrationThe product we would like to introduce this time is the NBG joint, which has undergone cutting processing with zinc plating. When performing the peeling work of the zinc plating attached to the bevel area, conducting welding while leaving some plating can lead to the generation of harmful substances due to the thermal effects during welding. Therefore, there is a concern about the generation of harmful substances, and the peeling work creates a burden and hassle on-site. The NBG joint is a welded pipe joint from which the zinc plating attached to the bevel area has already been removed through cutting processing. As a result, it eliminates the process of peeling the plating before performing the surrounding welding work, removes concerns during the surrounding welding, and improves work efficiency. The NBG joint is mainly used in air conditioning equipment that creates a comfortable living environment and is active in various fields such as large building facilities and commercial establishments. Please consider the NBG joint, which can eliminate the peeling process and reduce concerns about harmful substance generation as well as the burden and hassle of peeling work. NBG stands for "Non Bevel Galvanized," which is a unique expression of Benkan Kiko.

Free membership registrationIt is a joint that makes one think of a sculpture, finished to an impressive degree. This is made by "machining," which involves cutting from forged material rather than plastic processing. Among the welded pipe joints used in boiler-related applications at thermal power plants, there are products with large and special shapes that cannot be made through plastic processing (stretching, compressing, bending, or drawing steel materials). For such requests, we manufacture by cutting from forged material instead of using standard plastic processing. In terms of shape, there are mainly Y-PIECES that branch at the same angle from one direction, laterals that branch at an angle like a single branch from one direction, and T-PIECES that branch in a T shape. The diameters primarily range from 400 to 800 mm, with some larger ones weighing around 10 tons. Since these products are used under extremely harsh conditions, the specifications include strict component regulations for the materials used and heat treatment conditions based on the technical standards for power generation thermal equipment. We not only ensure that the shape is correct but also conduct UT tests on the materials, tensile tests on the products, impact tests, hardness tests, and penetration tests, and only provide the final product after all these tests are cleared.

Free membership registrationAre you thinking, 'It's impossible because stainless steel piping is too expensive'? By using stainless steel for fire protection piping, you can extend the lifespan of the piping system due to the corrosion resistance characteristic of stainless steel compared to carbon steel. Additionally, the strength of stainless steel allows for thinner piping, making it possible to save space. In the case of stainless steel, the weight of the piping can be reduced to about 70% of that of carbon steel, so you can easily understand its strength and space-saving benefits. This also leads to reduced labor costs on-site. Benkan Kiko's pipe fittings (Su fittings) are approved for use under the Fire Service Act and have obtained JIS standard certification (JIS B 2309). The trusted brand Benkan Kiko's Su fittings, used not only for fire protection systems but also for general piping stainless steel, will assist you in converting fire protection piping to stainless steel. In March 2020, the amount of hexavalent chromium compounds was revised in the "Ordinance to Partially Amend the Ordinance on Water Quality Standards," and our company has conducted leaching performance tests under the new standards, ensuring that our Su fittings meet the revised water quality standards.

Free membership registrationClad steel refers to a composite material that uses carbon steel, high-strength steel, low-alloy steel, etc., as the base material, and combines it with a different type of steel on one side through processes such as hot rolling (bonding), welding, or explosive bonding. By enabling the joining of dissimilar metals, it can create functions that cannot be achieved with a single type of metal. By combining materials with good corrosion resistance or by using less expensive metals in combination with more expensive ones, it is also possible to reduce the overall cost of piping. This type of steel offers advantages in various cases, such as accommodating rare materials or materials that can only be purchased in thin sheets. *The photo shows a cross-section of clad steel, where the combination of dissimilar metals can be seen.

Free membership registrationThe main product of Benkan Kiko is the [butt-welded pipe fitting], which comes in a wide variety of types depending on the piping application, including differences in material, diameter, wall thickness, shape, and surface treatment. Typically, the manufacturing method for [butt-welded pipe fittings] involves plastic processing. Plastic processing refers to the method of shaping materials (steel pipes and plates) by applying a large force to deform them into the desired shape. Benkan Kiko's strength lies in this plastic processing technology. However, in plant-related piping, there are special specifications such as steel types and shapes that cannot be accommodated by plastic processing due to specific needs. In such cases, we consider the [forged steel welded pipe fitting]. The forged products we will introduce this time are primarily used in plant-related applications. The manufacturing process involves forging, heat treatment, and then complete machining. Forged steel refers to materials that have been subjected to a specified forging ratio applied to steel blocks (ingots) of various steel types. The [forged steel welded pipe fitting] is a product that has been precisely machined into shape. At Benkan Kiko, we can offer a wide range of proposals for [forged steel welded pipe fittings] that accommodate various special specifications and steel types.

Free membership registrationSu fittings (JIS B 2309) are manufactured primarily for use in general water supply and hot water piping in hotels, apartments, hospitals, building construction, and factory piping. They are characterized by their thin-walled design compared to butt-welded pipe fittings manufactured under JIS B 2311 and JIS B 2312, which allows for cost reduction. Additionally, considering the automatic welding during installation at the piping site, the bevel is designed as a plain end. The maximum operating pressure is set at 2.0 MPa, and due to the thin wall thickness, even small diameter fittings feature a wide inner diameter, ensuring sufficient flow capacity. Benkan Kiko holds JIS B 2309 Su fittings in stock, allowing for relatively short delivery times. <Stock Range> Types: 90EL 45EL 90ES R(C) R(E) T(S) T(R) LJSE Sizes: 30Su to 300Su

Free membership registrationPiping joined with "welded pipe fittings" cannot be disassembled once joined, but by using "pipe flanges" that connect pipes with bolts and nuts, disassembly becomes possible. Benkan Kiko specializes in sales of stainless steel welded types and primarily supplies to domestic plants, focusing on chemical factories, water treatment facilities, and construction-related projects.

Free membership registration"Bevel" (kaisaki), also known as "groove," refers to the gap created between two base materials when they are joined together. This gap is essential to ensure that the welded joint has the same quality and strength as the base materials. Additionally, a design that minimizes the likelihood of welding defects and high processing precision is required. For example, increasing the bevel angle results in a larger amount of welding material, which can lead to increased welding labor and affect the mechanical properties and shape distortion near the weld due to heat input to the base materials. Conversely, narrowing the bevel angle can lead to decreased workability, poor penetration, and the risk of defects such as slag inclusions that cannot be detected from the surface, increasing the likelihood of welding defects. Therefore, the shape and processing of the bevel are crucial, and they are designed to achieve optimal shapes and dimensions considering factors such as the properties and pressure of the fluid, material, thickness, diameter, and welding environment.
