Welded pipe fittings for piping, made of forged steel.

At Benkan Kiko, we can offer proposals for [forged steel welded pipe fittings] that accommodate a wide range of special specifications and steel types.

The main product of Benkan Kiko is the [butt-welded pipe fitting], which comes in a wide variety of types depending on the piping application, including differences in material, diameter, wall thickness, shape, and surface treatment. Typically, the manufacturing method for [butt-welded pipe fittings] involves plastic processing. Plastic processing refers to the method of shaping materials (steel pipes and plates) by applying a large force to deform them into the desired shape. Benkan Kiko's strength lies in this plastic processing technology. However, in plant-related piping, there are special specifications such as steel types and shapes that cannot be accommodated by plastic processing due to specific needs. In such cases, we consider the [forged steel welded pipe fitting]. The forged products we will introduce this time are primarily used in plant-related applications. The manufacturing process involves forging, heat treatment, and then complete machining. Forged steel refers to materials that have been subjected to a specified forging ratio applied to steel blocks (ingots) of various steel types. The [forged steel welded pipe fitting] is a product that has been precisely machined into shape. At Benkan Kiko, we can offer a wide range of proposals for [forged steel welded pipe fittings] that accommodate various special specifications and steel types.

Firefighting piping fittings (Su fittings) Benkan Kiko

Using stainless steel piping for fire protection systems offers many advantages!

Are you thinking, 'It's impossible because stainless steel piping is too expensive'? By using stainless steel for fire protection piping, you can extend the lifespan of the piping system due to the corrosion resistance characteristic of stainless steel compared to carbon steel. Additionally, the strength of stainless steel allows for thinner piping, making it possible to save space. In the case of stainless steel, the weight of the piping can be reduced to about 70% of that of carbon steel, so you can easily understand its strength and space-saving benefits. This also leads to reduced labor costs on-site. Benkan Kiko's pipe fittings (Su fittings) are approved for use under the Fire Service Act and have obtained JIS standard certification (JIS B 2309). The trusted brand Benkan Kiko's Su fittings, used not only for fire protection systems but also for general piping stainless steel, will assist you in converting fire protection piping to stainless steel. In March 2020, the amount of hexavalent chromium compounds was revised in the "Ordinance to Partially Amend the Ordinance on Water Quality Standards," and our company has conducted leaching performance tests under the new standards, ensuring that our Su fittings meet the revised water quality standards.

Forged steel fittings for thermal power plants

We can respond to the special shapes of welded pipe fittings used in boiler applications with high technical skill!

It is a joint that makes one think of a sculpture, finished to an impressive degree. This is made by "machining," which involves cutting from forged material rather than plastic processing. Among the welded pipe joints used in boiler-related applications at thermal power plants, there are products with large and special shapes that cannot be made through plastic processing (stretching, compressing, bending, or drawing steel materials). For such requests, we manufacture by cutting from forged material instead of using standard plastic processing. In terms of shape, there are mainly Y-PIECES that branch at the same angle from one direction, laterals that branch at an angle like a single branch from one direction, and T-PIECES that branch in a T shape. The diameters primarily range from 400 to 800 mm, with some larger ones weighing around 10 tons. Since these products are used under extremely harsh conditions, the specifications include strict component regulations for the materials used and heat treatment conditions based on the technical standards for power generation thermal equipment. We not only ensure that the shape is correct but also conduct UT tests on the materials, tensile tests on the products, impact tests, hardness tests, and penetration tests, and only provide the final product after all these tests are cleared.

Benkan Kiko Special Coating Pipe Fittings

Special coating application for pipe fittings is available according to customer requests.

Steel products are easily corroded when left uncoated in the atmosphere, and rust occurs electrochemically due to oxygen and moisture in the air. It is possible to protect the products from corrosion and aging conditions by applying paint. Steel products used in plants and pipelines are particularly often painted, and at Benkan Kiko, we can supply products that have been painted or coated with customer-specified paints, thereby reducing the need for on-site painting work. For products that do not have special painting instructions, we apply temporary rust prevention that suppresses rust for about six months during indoor storage.

Welded pipe fittings guide for piping - Bar and sleeve T (tee)

Introducing the guide bar sleeve T-shirt.

At the construction site of a plant where piping is installed, welding of pipe fittings to pipes and welding of pipe fittings to pipe fittings often must be carried out using approved welding methods (welding construction methods) based on regulations such as the Gas Business Act. Since there are many types of welding construction methods depending on the material of the pipes and the welding method, it is not always possible to accommodate all sites. Therefore, by pre-welding short pipes at Benkan Kiko, it becomes possible to align with the welding construction methods that can be used on-site. Benkan Kiko has obtained many welding construction methods based on regulatory requirements such as the Gas Business Act and the Electric Utility Act, allowing us to respond to various cases. Additionally, we can accommodate various shapes for guide bar installation according to customer requests, and we also offer the option to purchase materials for guide bars and sleeves from our company. We are qualified to conduct various tests and inspections on the welded joints of sleeves and guide bars, so please feel free to contact us.

Special pipe fitting products: Elbow with rectifier plate

Leave special specification pipe fittings to Benkan Kiko.

The product we are introducing this time is an elbow with a rectifying plate. A rectifying plate is a plate that is installed on the inside of pipe fittings such as elbows, and it serves to streamline the flow of fluid passing through the piping. When welding the rectifying plate, it is necessary to consider the bending radius (angle) of both the elbow and the welding plate, which requires a high level of skill. At Benkan Kiko, we have received high praise from our customers by being able to accommodate special products thanks to our high technical capabilities cultivated over many years. We can manufacture in various materials and sizes, so please feel free to contact us first.

3D Mandrel Elbow for High-Pressure Pipeline Main Line

It is possible to reduce transportation and construction costs through compactification!

The 3DR elbow is a type of pipe fitting that is often used in gas pipelines. It is primarily manufactured through high-frequency bending, which requires an extra length of 1OD (1 outer diameter) as a gripping area during the manufacturing process. However, this extra length can make transportation cumbersome. Additionally, when buried, the extra length necessitates deeper excavation during construction, increasing the labor involved, including handling. Since many products are used for mainline applications, the impact on costs is significant. However, if manufactured using the mandrel method, the absence of extra length improves loading efficiency onto trucks and eliminates the need for deeper excavation during underground installation in local pipelines, making construction easier. Furthermore, the wall thickness of the bent section is nearly uniform, and the entire elbow undergoes heat treatment, resulting in consistent mechanical properties and high quality, with no discontinuities in wall thickness, making it safe for use in high-pressure pipeline mainlines. At Benkan Kiko, we offer 3DR elbows manufactured using the mandrel bending method. We can provide cost-benefit analyses, so please feel free to consult with us.

Welded steel pipe for piping

We offer a wide range of services, from manufacturing pipes of irregular lengths to the construction of open ends!

The product we are introducing this time is a welded steel pipe for piping. When manufacturing pipes, there are often limitations on the production lot size and minimum length. However, at Benkan Kiko, we can accommodate customer requests by manufacturing pipes in standard lengths such as 4000L, 5500L, and 6000L, as well as shorter sizes under 1M and intermediate lengths known as random lengths, along with the construction of end preparations. Regarding welding construction, we can also handle welding work based on regulatory requirements such as the Electric Utility Industry Law, Gas Utility Industry Law, boilers, and first-class pressure vessels. For products subject to the Electric Utility Industry Law, we can provide welding methods and quality assurance through certified welders that comply with inspections by welding contractors, contributing to cost reduction for customers through the preparation of documentation related to inspections and factory audits. Additionally, further cost reductions can be achieved by performing circumferential welding of joints and pipes together.

Large-diameter welded pipe fittings - branch pipes

Benkan Kiko's large-diameter lateral pipes reduce on-site welding work!

The photo shows a lateral pipe where the branch pipe is connected diagonally to the main pipe. The connection of the branch pipe requires saddle welding on a curved surface, and since the branch pipe is connected at an angle rather than at a right angle, the connection surface becomes elliptical, which demands a very high level of skill from the welder. Additionally, a backing plate (pad) is welded to the main pipe using fillet welding. The backing plate is applied to reinforce the piping branch, and when performing prefabrication or on-site piping, there are concerns that directly welding support materials or foot materials to the product may affect the quality of the main pipe and the qualifications of the welders performing that welding. Therefore, the backing plate is used to address such concerns. The manufacturing of this backing plate also requires high forming skills to match the curved shape of the main pipe, but Benkan Kiko is capable of handling this. At Benkan Kiko, we can supply high-quality products through excellent welding technology and precise forming techniques.

Welded pipe fittings T (tee) manufacturing by bulge forming

Bulge forming (hydroforming) has now evolved and is being utilized in various processing applications.

Bulge forming (hydroforming) is a method of processing materials by applying high internal pressure and axial load (axial pushing) to tubular materials (such as steel pipes) placed within a mold, deforming them into shapes that conform to the mold. It is a type of plastic processing using various alloy steel pipes, including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and brass. Using bulge forming offers the following advantages: 1. It allows for integral forming, making complex shapes possible. This improves the rigidity of the processed products and leads to enhanced quality. 2. It enables material thickening forming, allowing for right-angle bends in steel pipes, which can reduce processing time and increase processing speed. Thus, it is a forming method that not only allows for complex shapes but also enables cost reduction. Our company is capable of manufacturing welded pipe fittings, including T (tee), special T (tee) at 45° YT, crosses, laterals, and more. We also accept inquiries for welded pipe fittings tailored to customer needs in terms of material, diameter, and thickness, as well as for the production of special items, so please feel free to contact us.

Duplex stainless steel welded pipe fittings

At Benkan Kiko, we manufacture welded pipe fittings made of duplex stainless steel.

The material commonly referred to as duplex stainless steel is characterized by its high resistance to corrosion and greater strength compared to austenitic stainless steel. This allows for thinner design plate thicknesses, leading to advantages such as weight reduction, downsizing due to increased flow rates, and cost reduction in piping. At Benkan Kiko, we utilize our long-established metal forming technology and quality assurance system to provide high-quality duplex stainless steel welded pipe fittings, assisting our customers with their piping design and cost reduction. [Case Study] Replacement Work of Elbow Piping at Power Plant

We would like to introduce an example of on-site piping replacement work that reduces management burden!

We received an order for products for the replacement work of elbows with longitudinal weld seams, which we delivered for the after-service project for the thermal power plant of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Nagasaki Factory. This project involved the on-site replacement of aging piping used under high temperature and high pressure conditions. Instead of the same elbows supplied previously, we provided a new product that incorporates many advantages, which was well received. The specifications of the product that were appreciated are as follows: - Seamless elbows to eliminate longitudinal weld seams. - To reduce the workload within the engineering manufacturer, a water pressure test was conducted at Benkan Kiko at a pressure of 1.3 times the design pressure. - Suspension brackets were installed to facilitate easy replacement work on-site. By conducting the water pressure test at 1.3 times the design pressure in advance at Benkan Kiko, we can avoid the risk of performing a water pressure test at 1.3 times the design pressure on aging piping. We have confirmed and experienced effects such as delivery management and workload reduction, and we have received high evaluations, including subsequent orders for after-service projects under the same scheme.

Welded pipe fitting 80 inches (2000A/outer diameter 2032 mm) elbow

Introducing the large-diameter monaka-style elbow with an outer diameter exceeding 2 meters!! This 80-inch (outer diameter 2032mm) large-diameter elbow is available. Leave the manufacturing of large-diameter elbows to Benkan Kiko.

The name "Monaka" originates from a type of Japanese confectionery called "monaka," which consists of two layers stacked together. 1. Enhanced facilities enable the production of products tailored to your needs When manufacturing large-diameter elbows, a method may be employed that combines steel pipes known as "maita bends" and "ebi pipes" to create elbow shapes. The monaka manufacturing process requires molds and high-output press machines. Our facilities are well-equipped, allowing us to produce products that meet our customers' requirements. 2. Fewer weld seams reduce the risk of welding defects Due to the manufacturing method of combining steel pipes through welding, maita bends tend to have many weld seams, resulting in more inspections. Our elbows have only two weld seams in the longitudinal direction, significantly fewer than maita bends, thereby reducing the need for inspections on weld seams and minimizing the quality risks associated with welding, allowing for safer usage. 3. Smooth shape minimizes the impact on fluids Maita bends have a cornered shape due to the combination of steel pipes, while our formed elbows have a smooth R shape, which minimizes the impact on fluids. We can accommodate various materials (for details, please refer to the section below), so please feel free to contact us.

Are you looking for tapered pipes or short pipes?

We manufacture tapered pipes and short pipes in small lots. Please also consider us for steel structures and welded structures, in addition to piping applications.

A tapered pipe is a piping product manufactured from steel plates, featuring a gradient and longitudinal weld seam, and refers to any product other than a reducer in the standards for welded pipe fittings. While reducers have specifications for product height (length) and step-down (the difference in diameters of the connecting pipes), there may be instances during piping installation where products with different heights or step-downs from the standards are required. In such cases, tapered pipes can be utilized. Short pipes can also be supplied with the necessary length and end processing for short steel pipe components required in piping design. These products contribute to reducing construction time and improving on-site construction efficiency for our customers. Please consult us regarding diameter, plate thickness (product thickness), length, etc. Additionally, materials can be manufactured from carbon steel, high-strength steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals such as aluminum. Both tapered pipes and short pipes can be ordered from a single small lot. Tapered pipes can accommodate both concentric and eccentric designs. In addition to piping applications, how about considering them for steel structures or welded structures? We can provide various proposals based on your requests and conditions, so please feel free to contact us for more details.

tapered pipe

Is there a case where a reducer that differs from the specifications is needed? If so, tapered pipes might be able to accommodate that concern.

A tapered pipe refers to a piping product where the cross-sectional area differs between the inlet and outlet. There are similar products called reducers, but the length and step of reducers are determined by standards. However, in piping construction, there may be cases where products with lengths or steps that differ from the standards are required. In such cases, tapered pipes can be utilized. Additionally, while there is a manufacturing method that involves machining steel materials, for large-diameter products, considering material and processing costs, tapered pipes manufactured by welding steel plates have cost advantages. At Benkan Kiko, we can manufacture from a single piece in small lots, and we will produce according to customer requests and various conditions regarding diameter, plate thickness, wall thickness, length, etc. Furthermore, we can manufacture using materials such as carbon steel, high-strength steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals like aluminum. Special angle (end angle) elbow

It is possible to manufacture special angle elbows other than 90° and 45°.

Elbows are categorized into 90° elbows, 45° elbows, and 180° elbows according to JIS standards. In cases where these angles are insufficient for piping design, JIS standards recognize "special angle elbows," which can be manufactured at special angles as needed for piping design. Elbows manufactured at special intermediate angles such as 60°, 30°, and 135° are referred to as "special angle (end angle) elbows." At Benkan Kiko, we respond meticulously to our customers' requests and offer custom manufacturing of end angle elbows. **Benefits of adopting Benkan Kiko's end angle elbows:** - If elbows are processed on-site during installation, the product warranty for those fittings will be voided, so it is safer to manufacture them at the required angles in advance. - Processing elbows to specific angles or bevel ends on-site requires equipment and expertise, making it safer to use pre-processed products. - Products can be manufactured with dimensional accuracy based on JIS standards. - We can issue production drawings and delivery drawings that include detailed dimensions of the products as per your requests.

T-shirt with guide bar

It is something that is indispensable for gas pipelines.

The pipeline has not only straight sections but also bends and branching parts. The guide plate that ensures a smooth passage for the pig without getting caught on the branching side when it passes through this branching part is called a guide bar (pig bar). At Benkan Kiko, we manufacture elbows used in the bending parts of the pipeline and T (tee) fittings used in the branching parts, but we refer to a T fitting with a bar attached to the branching part as a T fitting with a guide bar. Regarding the guide bar, there are various know-how related to its shape and installation method, and the welding to the T fitting body often needs to be performed using a welding method (welding construction method) that has been approved based on regulations such as the Gas Business Act. Benkan Kiko has obtained many welding construction methods based on regulatory requirements such as the Gas Business Act and the Electric Utility Act, allowing us to respond to various cases. In addition to being able to accommodate various shapes of guide bar installations according to customer requests, we can also procure the materials for the guide bars ourselves. Furthermore, we are qualified to conduct various tests and inspections on the welded parts of the guide bars. Source of pig photo: JFE Engineering Corporation.

Welded pipe fittings with PAD (backing plate)

If you want to attach a PAD (backing plate) to a pipe fitting, please consult Benkan Kiko!

"I want to join the pipe fittings and support materials, but I'm worried about strength and heat effects, so I don't want to attach them directly to the pipe fitting body. Welding and attaching a PAD (backing plate) to the pipe fitting on-site is cumbersome." In such cases, please do not hesitate to contact Benkan Kiko. By attaching a PAD (backing plate) to the necessary parts in piping support structures (horizontal and vertical loads), we can enable the joining of the PAD section and the support material. However, manufacturing pipe fittings with PADs is not easy. The PAD and pipe fitting are produced separately through plastic processing, but welding them together so that they fit perfectly requires the very challenging task of modifying the PAD shape. Benkan Kiko has three domestic factories (five locations) and various know-how accumulated by skilled craftsmen who hone their skills there. There have been cases where we made it possible to manufacture PAD-equipped pipe fittings, which were considered technically difficult during the planning stage, by pooling wisdom and technology across factories. Although the PAD (backing plate) equipped welded pipe fittings are custom-made and unique, please contact Benkan Kiko when considering them.

Stainless steel stub end for piping (lap joint)

We will manufacture stub ends made to order!

A stub end is a welded pipe fitting that has a flange at the end and is used in combination with a loose flange. Instead of rotating the pipe itself, the loose flange is rotated to freely adjust the position of the bolt holes, improving the workability on site during assembly. This product is used in a wide range of applications, primarily in low-pressure piping systems such as water supply and drainage facilities and internal factory piping. It is particularly effective in paper mills. In addition to standard products, we can also provide custom items tailored to your specifications, so please feel free to leave it to Benkan Kiko. We can accommodate products with flange diameters other than 10K, such as 5K and 20K, as well as products with dimensions that differ from standard specifications and serration processing. Leveraging the strength of our domestic manufacturing facilities, we respond flexibly to customer requests. "If you need a certain height" or "Can you make this flange diameter?" Please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Welded pipe fittings finished with buff polishing.

For buff finish polished welded pipe fittings, please consult Benkan Kiko.

There are cases where "polishing" is applied as a surface finish specification requirement for welded pipe fittings, and particularly for stainless steel products, there is a smooth, glossy finish achieved through "buff polishing." "Buff polishing" is a method that uses a polishing tool equipped with cotton, felt, or wool called a "buff," along with a paste-like abrasive material, to smooth the surface, especially when a mirror finish is required. Buff polishing has classifications of "roughness," expressed as a specific number finish. Generally, the larger the number, the higher the grade, resulting in a glossier product surface. At Benkan Kiko, regardless of buff polishing finish, we accommodate surface grade specifications not only with abrasive particle sizes but also with surface roughness parameters (Ra, Rmax, etc.), roughness symbols, evaluations using comparison test pieces, and assessments using surface roughness gauges, allowing us to meet surface grade requirements tailored to specific applications. If polishing is required for welded pipe fittings in your piping design, please feel free to contact us. <Varieties> - Elbows, T-pieces, reducers, caps, stub ends <Materials> - We can accommodate various materials including SUS304, SUS304L, SUS316, SUS316L, and others.

[Case Study] Large-Diameter Plated Products for Air Conditioning Equipment Piping in Architecture

As a manufacturing example, we would like to introduce large-diameter plated products (hot-dip galvanized) produced for air conditioning equipment piping.

The details of the product we are introducing this time are as follows: JIS (Coating) Type: 90E(S) Material: PY400 Size: 1500A (60 inches) Thickness: 7.9mm This is a coated large-diameter welded pipe fitting as specified by the customer. In particular, processing of hot-dip galvanized products such as 1500A (60 inches) is not easy and is a high-difficulty product. Benkan Kiko also manufactures large-diameter products. 《Manufacturing Range》 Size: up to 2000A (80 inches) Thickness: up to 120mm *Please note that this varies by type, so for details, please contact us. Pipe fittings made from steel pipes as raw materials can be difficult to obtain depending on the size, making them unsuitable for manufacturing large-diameter products. The production of large-diameter pipe fittings can be achieved by forming and welding from steel plates.
