Cryogenic ion milling cross-section processing example (rubber products)

アイテス アイテス
We will introduce a case where cross-sections were created and observed by method regarding the adhesive parts of the tires of pull-back cars. When conducting SEM observations of the created cross-sections, fillers present inside the rubber were confirmed. It was found that the dispersion state of the fillers and the condition of the adhesive interface were not clear with fracture by liquid nitrogen or mechanical polishing. In contrast, the cross-sections created by cryo ion milling allow for clear observation of the dispersion state of the fillers contained within the rubber and the condition of the adhesive interface with the plastic substrate.

Cryogenic ion milling cross-section processing example (rubber products)

We will introduce a case study on the method of processing cross-sections using toy car tires!

We would like to introduce a case where cross-sections were created and observed for the adhesive parts of pull-back car tires using different methods. Upon conducting SEM observations of the created cross-sections, fillers present within the rubber were confirmed. It was found that the dispersion state of the fillers and the appearance of the adhesive interface were not clear with liquid nitrogen fracturing or mechanical polishing. In contrast, the cross-sections created by cryo ion milling allowed for a clear observation of the dispersion state of the fillers contained in the rubber and the appearance of the adhesive interface with the plastic substrate. 【Cross-section Preparation Methods】 ■ Liquid Nitrogen Fracturing (-196℃) ■ Mechanical Polishing ■ Cryo CP (-150℃) *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Analysis of multilayer materials using micro-Raman.

Depth-direction measurements using Raman spectroscopy! Material analysis of each layer is possible from the surface of multilayer films.

Our "Micro Raman Spectrophotometer" employs a confocal optical system, allowing for the adjustment of the focal position in the depth direction, similar to a microscope, enabling material analysis of each layer from the surface of multilayer films. Using the confocal function of the micro Raman spectrophotometer, the focus of the Raman laser light can be varied in the depth direction. Additionally, by continuously changing the focal position, it is possible to obtain spectra continuously in the depth direction. 【Features】 ■ Adoption of a confocal optical system ■ Enables material analysis of each layer from the surface of multilayer films ■ Capable of varying the focus of the Raman laser light in the depth direction ■ Allows for continuous spectral acquisition in the depth direction *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Cross-section polishing (CP) method for cross-sectional observation service.

Achieve high processing precision and a wide processing area! Machining is also possible while reducing damage with cooling functions.

The CP method allows for the observation of cross-sections without damage from polishing, compared to mechanical polishing methods. Our triple ion milling device with cooling function achieves high processing precision and a wide processing area through ion beams irradiated from three directions. For materials sensitive to heat, processing can be done while reducing damage with the cooling function. 【Features】 ■ Capable of processing over a wide range with a processing width of approximately 4mm and a processing depth of about 1mm ■ High flatness in both hard and soft materials, enabling the production of cross-sections without physical damage ■ Capable of producing cross-sections with good positional accuracy ■ Processing can be done while cooling (cryogenic) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Observation of the coating layer of eyeglass lenses using a microtome.

Section preparation using a microtome! Introducing examples of observing lens coating layers and multilayer films.

Lenses for glasses, cameras, and other devices are coated with various layers. In the case of glasses, multiple coating layers are applied, including a hard coat to protect plastic lenses, an anti-reflective coat to reduce light reflection, and a UV coat to block ultraviolet rays. These layers are applied as extremely thin films, so we observed their structure in cross-section. When observed with a scanning electron microscope (SEM), it was noted that a hard coat/multilayer film is applied on top of the lens substrate, and in the multilayer film, SiO and Nb films are alternately stacked. [Overview] ■ Cross-section preparation method - Prepared with a microtome - The lens removed from the frame was cut into small pieces and embedded in resin - Subsequently, a cross-section was prepared using a microtome, followed by optical microscopy observation, SEM observation, and EDX analysis. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Hyper CLT flooring panel

Civil CLT as common temporary works for public construction | Hyper CLT flooring

  • NEW
  • COMPANY

In public construction civil engineering sites, there are many instances where sheets are used as common temporary facilities, such as construction roads, access roads, heavy machinery work yards, material storage areas, and worker pathways. Traditionally, steel plates were common, but due to their weight, transportation and installation can be cumbersome. Hyper CLT sheets are civil engineering materials made from wooden CLT for civil engineering use. The 5×10 sheet weighs about 230 kg, and the 5×20 sheet weighs about 460 kg, making them lightweight and easy to transport, install, and remove, even with small machinery. They can be widely utilized for temporary roads, heavy machinery scaffolding, pathways within the site, and protection of material storage in public works. Since they are made of wood, they also contribute to environmental aspects such as reducing summer heat reflection, lowering noise, and fixing CO2. They can simultaneously address construction efficiency, safety measures, and environmental considerations, making them effective for innovative proposals in public works. Furthermore, they improve transportation efficiency and reduce labor in site operations as an alternative to steel plates. Hyper CLT sheets are registered technology with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism under NETIS "TH-250021-A." They are recommended for companies considering civil engineering, civil engineering use, and civil engineering CLT. Feel free to request materials or consult about implementation. They are temporary materials that also help improve site evaluations in public works. Please consider them.

We have released a new video on our company’s YouTube channel. The theme of this video is "The World of Amino Acid-Based Shampoos." Amino acid-based shampoos have become popular in recent years, but the lather, feel, and finish can vary greatly depending on the cleansing ingredients used. In this video, we clearly explain the changes in user experience based on the differences in cleansing ingredients by comparing two types of amino acid-based shampoos. We hope you can use this as a hint for developing original shampoos and differentiation.
