[Seminar] Latest Trends in Global SAF and the Reality of Commercialization
[Lecturer]
Eiichi Hachisu, Chief Researcher, Manufacturing Process Technology Department, Carbon Neutral Fuel Technology Center, General Incorporated Foundation
[Key Lecture Content]
In the aviation sector, proactive efforts are being made worldwide to expand the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in order to achieve greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets, including CO2.
To commercially establish the supply of SAF, there are numerous challenges to be addressed throughout the supply chain, from securing the raw materials necessary for SAF production to manufacturing, as well as establishing quality assurance and certification systems for SAF, and distribution.
This lecture will outline the latest trends focusing on various challenges, including the ASTM standards for aircraft fuel, certification systems related to the environmental performance of SAF, such as GHG reduction effects, and the availability of various SAF raw materials.
[Lecture Items]
1. ASTM standards for SAF as aircraft fuel
2. Availability of SAF raw materials
3. ICAO CORSIA
4. Certification systems related to the environmental performance of SAF (focusing on ISCC)
5. Q&A / Business card exchange
