[Speaker]
Ryuuji Kitajima, Partner Attorney at TMI General Legal Counsel
[Key Lecture Content]
With the revision of the GX Promotion Act, the domestic emissions trading system will officially start on April 1, 2026. This system is designed under the concept of "growth-oriented carbon pricing," aiming for Japan's carbon neutrality goals and the "coexistence of the environment and the economy." Additionally, there is a growing number of companies actively engaging in carbon credit trading for purposes such as carbon offsetting and utilizing it in their services. Recently, some companies have begun to participate from the project formation of carbon credits utilizing the JCM.
