~ Examples of RaLC Utilization at Seiko Epson ~ ◎ Verification of Optimal Transportation Distances for Distributed Production Facilities and Warehouses 【Case 1 Utilization of RaLC at a Subsidiary in the Tohoku Region】 ◆ Aim of RaLC Utilization Due to a layout that prioritizes manufacturing, the warehouse and its related facilities are distributed across four locations around the manufacturing area. As a result, it took time to move between the related facilities. Therefore, a preliminary verification was conducted to determine whether it was possible to consolidate and streamline the distributed facilities. ◆ Verification Results 1. The best plan verified with RaLC showed that the working hours of operators could be reduced by 6.3 hours per day, and the distance traveled could be shortened by 4 kilometers per day. 2. With these results, a request for improvement was made to the facility management responsible at the subsidiary. By demonstrating a specific numerical effect that one fewer operator could be achieved through layout changes, a request for the layout modification was successfully made.
