Komatsu puts into practice! A case filled with know-how that achieved surprising cost reduction and productivity improvement is available for free download.
Komatsu, a leader in construction and heavy machinery worldwide under the "KOMATSU" brand, is focused on improving quality, reliability, and production efficiency by harnessing the power of identifying challenges on-site (on-site capability). To visualize the diverse range of vehicle types and specifications produced, and to quickly and accurately grasp improvement opportunities, the use of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is essential. Since 2000, we have implemented the logistics improvement system "RaLC" from CEC, utilizing it in the logistics system department for proposals and in the production technology department for optimizing production line verification. Since April 2010, by introducing CEC's logistics improvement system "RaLC," we have been able to monitor the position and movement of forklifts in real-time. By visualizing the logistics vehicles operating within the facility, we aim to achieve continuous logistics improvement, further cost reduction, and increased productivity. ■We will also hold seminars related to this case. basic information
◆What is RaAP? RaAP is a production capacity simulator that allows for the quantitative evaluation of the effects of establishing or improving production lines. It is increasingly being utilized primarily by major manufacturing companies in Japan. RaAP supports the strengthening of production technology capabilities, such as layout improvements, reduction of non-operating hours, and considerations for multi-machine and multi-process operations, as well as efforts for technology transfer during the establishment of overseas factories. ◆What is RaFLOW? RaFLOW is a system that enables real-time monitoring and analysis of the positions and movements of forklifts and people by importing position data from positioning systems. - Implementation Effects By visualizing latent bottlenecks and areas for improvement, RaFLOW achieves cost reductions through shortened verification periods. Additionally, by quantitatively analyzing the cost-effectiveness of capital investments and improvements, it becomes easier to assess the validity of investments in enhancements. Since plans and improvement proposals can be tested and stored on a PC anytime and as many times as needed, it allows for the knowledge transfer of experience and intuition, facilitating "shared awareness" and "enhanced communication" among engineers, workers, and managers across locations and countries.

Company information
Since its establishment in 1968 as an independent system integrator, CEC has been supporting companies' IT strategies. After being listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2001, it has focused on two main areas: information systems that support customers' business operations and control systems that support manufacturing. Centered around the manufacturing solution "VR+R," which utilizes simulation and monitoring techniques to solve challenges for product development and production departments in the manufacturing industry, CEC provides comprehensive support from consultation on systems to operation and maintenance. In addition to manufacturing and automotive industries, it offers one-stop services for planning, building, and maintenance and operation of information systems, control systems, and embedded systems related to corporate management in the financial sector.
