In conventional wastewater biological treatment (such as activated sludge method), treatment is carried out by utilizing oxygen supplied by blowers, where microorganisms oxidize and decompose pollutants in water into water and carbon dioxide (aerobic treatment). In contrast, anaerobic treatment (methane fermentation) is a method that converts pollutants primarily into methane gas through the action of anaerobic (oxygen-unfriendly) microorganisms under oxygen-deprived conditions. It has recently gained attention due to the various advantages it offers that are not present in aerobic treatment. 【Features】 - Recovery of methane gas from wastewater, contributing to CO2 reduction with low energy consumption. - Sludge generation is 1/5 to 1/10 of that in aerobic treatment. - In the case of sewage discharge, sufficient water quality can be achieved with "UASB-TLP" alone. - High-load operation with CODcr load of 40-50 kg/m³ per day is possible.
