The electrostatic oil cleaning machine "EDC" captures submicron particles such as oxidation byproducts and dust. The thickness of the lubricating oil film is about 1μ, and the debris that directly affects wear is small, less than 1μ. However, such fine metallic wear particles act as catalysts for oil oxidation, creating a resin-like sludge that does not dissolve in oil. This sludge causes issues such as valve malfunction, clogging of strainers and filters, attachment to coolers that worsens heat exchange, increases oil temperature, decreases viscosity, and leads to lubrication failures and oil leaks.
