Tree species name: Manga Shiro (Meranti) Variety: Family: Dipterocarpaceae, Genus: Shorea, Hardwood Specific gravity: 0.39–0.87 Origin: Very widely distributed, found in Southeast Asia such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Myanmar. Characteristics: The grain is interlaced, and the texture is coarse. It has a golden-brown luster. Drying and adhesive properties are good. It is prone to splitting when nailed. Contains silica, so tools wear out quickly during processing. Durability against decay is moderate. Uses: Wide range of applications including custom materials, building materials, furniture materials, decorative plywood, and plywood. Caution: One of the representative woods of tropical hardwoods. In the Philippines, it is called Manga Shiro, in Yellow Meranti, and in Malaysia's Sabah, it is referred to as Meranti, with different names depending on the producing country.
