【Lecture Overview】 As the fluctuating renewable energy sources such as solar power rapidly increase and output curtailment also rises, the development and introduction of battery storage projects are expanding rapidly from the perspective of further utilization of renewable energy electricity and securing adjustment capabilities. The 7th Basic Energy Plan also indicates expectations for battery storage to enhance the role of renewable energy as a primary power source and to further utilize the Feed-in Premium (FIP) system. In this lecture, we will explain the regulations related to the development of battery storage projects, as well as the business models of battery storage projects (merchant, long-term decarbonization power source auctions, and tolling), and the challenges related to project finance structuring in each case.
