FC150 cast iron welding repair and build-up repair | Dimension shortage, defects, emergency response
MST Holdings Inc.
Welding repair for dimensional deficiencies and defects in FC150 cast iron! Comprehensive support from buildup, PT inspection, to emergency response.
MST Holdings Co., Ltd. provides welding repairs and buildup repairs for dimensional deficiencies, missing parts, and damaged areas of FC150 cast iron products. In this project, we welded corrective materials to the areas with dimensional deficiencies, while managing preheating, interpass temperature, and peening during the process. After welding, we also carried out finishing processes and PT (penetrant) testing. Please consult us for repairs of cast iron and cast products, dimensional corrections of machine parts, emergency repairs, and short delivery projects. We offer nationwide support for both individual and corporate projects.

Applications/Examples of results
We handle welding repairs and buildup repairs for dimensional deficiencies, defects, damage, and worn areas of FC150 cast iron products. In this instance, we welded corrective materials to the areas with dimensional deficiencies, while conducting preheating, temperature management, and peening during the process. After welding, we also performed finishing and PT (penetrant) inspection. We are capable of repairing or providing emergency repairs for hard-to-replace parts such as machine tool components, industrial machine parts, cast parts, equipment parts, and plant components. Please feel free to consult us for single items, on-site deliveries, or short lead-time projects.

1.FC150 Cast Iron Welding Repair | Marking for Groove Preparation on the Base Material Side To repair the dimensional deficiencies of FC150 cast iron products, the groove preparation position on the base material side was marked. We confirmed the groove shape and construction range necessary for welding with the corrective component and prepared for processing to ensure proper penetration.
-

2. FC150 Cast Iron Welding Repair Groove Preparation on the Base Material Side Based on the scribing position, groove preparation was carried out on the FC150 cast iron base material side. The processing was done while confirming the shape of the weld joint and the scope of construction to ensure sufficient penetration with the corrective member during welding.
-

3. FC150 Cast Iron Welding Repair Preheating After Temporary Attachment After temporarily attaching the correction component, preheating was carried out with a gas burner before the main welding. To suppress the rapid temperature changes in FC150 cast iron and reduce the risk of cracking, the base material and the area around the repair section were uniformly heated before proceeding to the main welding. If including the previous construction conditions, temperature management was conducted with a target preheating temperature of 150 to 200°C.
-

4. FC150 Cast Iron Welding Repair Preheat Temperature Check Before the welding, the preheat temperature of the base material was checked using a non-contact thermometer. To minimize the risk of cracking in FC150 cast iron, temperature management was carried out while ensuring that the temperature reached above 150°C.
-

5. FC150 Cast Iron Welding Repair Peening Process During Welding In this welding process, short beads were applied, and peening was performed on the welded metal after each pass. This was done to relieve the shrinkage stress caused by welding, while carefully managing temperature to minimize the risk of cracking in FC150 cast iron.
-

6. FC150 cast iron welding repair final cosmetic overlay completed in a restrained state. To suppress welding distortion, the main welding was carried out in a securely restrained state using jigs and clamps. Layering was performed while managing temperature and peening for each pass, and the final cosmetic overlay has been completed. Careful construction was carried out with consideration for cracks and warping in FC150 cast iron.
-

7. Work Scene of Welding Repair for FC150 Cast Iron This is a work scene where repair welding of FC150 cast iron is being performed. Preheating, temperature management, and peening after each pass are carried out while carefully considering cracks and welding distortion. While managing the construction conditions, the corrective components are reliably welded to the base material.
-

8. FC150 Cast Iron Welding Repair Final Inspection with Customer Attendance After completing the welding repair, a PT (Penetrant Testing) inspection, distortion check, and dimensional inspection were conducted in the presence of the customer and end user. The surface defects, deformation, and finished dimensions of the repaired area were confirmed, and the final inspection was completed. After the inspection was completed, both the construction details and the finish were confirmed, and the handover was successfully completed.
